After a somewhat rocky install of Sierra, I have got things running now. But a few glitches still:
- Ejecting a USB key won't work
- Ejecting a mapped drive (to my NAS) won't work)
The icon just gets lighter colored and sits there. No message, nothing. Clicking on it to open it does nothing...
New problem... I was getting the AppleUSBLegacyRoot message and it would sit there. Found this fix and I'm going further...

Wow! It's installing :)
Ok... I added -v to the boot process to see what's going on.
Stuck on "Waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</String><key>IOResourceMatch</key><String ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>"
So... after some research, seems like Unibeast might be the...
This is my 3rd build but this time I'm completely at a loss...
Here's the setup (what matters I guess):
Z170MX-Gaming-5
M.2 SSD Samsung 850
I used Unibeast to create a USB key installation. I boot off of it, and get the Clover menu. I select boot off of the USB key and I get the Apple logo and...
I have ordered the Gigabyte Z170MX-Gaming 5 and the EVGA GTX 950 SC, as well as a Core i5 6600K.
Thanks for the feedback! A few more questions:
Is the m.2 SATA drive support on the Z170MX compatible with macOS?
I ordered the wrong case by mistake (Fractal Design Nano S which is very nice but...
Sorry, I responded quickly, my phone rang :) So yeah, I always have a 2nd partition (clone of the "working" setup) before upgrading. However, this upgrade required a change of "MAC Model/Type i.e. Macpro3,1" which the previous versions didn't ask for. I found a post here that recommended a...
Not quite what I asked. I know I can revert. It's my prerogative if I want to use the latest version/update and I'm simply asking for advice. In any case, I have ordered the material already (hopefully I didn't screw up).
I'll rebuild this "old" PC with something that works.
Took a chance and changed it to MacMini 2011 and Geekbench score doubled... Wow... Such a minor change for such an impact. Still don't know if it's the right one but it's an improvement. Let's hope it's stable.
When I did the install, I read somewhere here that I had to change the model type to iMac 14,2 - I was able to install Sierra with this setting. But since the upgrade, everything is sluggish. I have a feeling that by setting Clover with this model I caused some problems.
My motherboard is an...
I am running an H55M-UD2H with a 2.8Ghz i5 and 16GB RAM, SSD and ATI Radeon HD 5000 1024mb (3 displays)
And it's been so sluggish that it's unworkable since I upgraded to Sierra. It's about 5 years old I think, so I'm ok with upgrading, got my money's worth :)
I'm looking at the Buyer's Guide...
Ok after a lot of research I got it working (sort of).
PCIRootUI=1 allowed me to hear it boot but I get no display. So I swapped the video card (a Gigabyte HD 5770) for my old XFX GeForce 8800GT and I was able to boot fine and have video.
I do need some assistance now to get the video running...
I had an EP35-DS3L system that worked well but didn't support 16GB so I upgraded to one of the recommended configurations listed here. I am having some issues...
First, the config:
MB: GA-H55M-UD2H
CPU: i5 760
RAM: 16GB DDR3 Corsair XMS3
HD: 80GB OCZ Vertex SSD
Video: ATI Radeon HD 5770
