Couple of questions ahead of my Mac Pro mod

These standoffs aren't like the motherboard standoffs though. They screw onto male bolt headers that are attached to the bottom of the Mac Pro case, so they'll need to match the thread of those bolts.

Couple of questions ahead of my Mac Pro mod

Hi everyone, I'm about to start a (slow-moving, when-I-have-time-and-energy) Mac Pro mod. I bought a complete, fully functional Mac Pro 1,1 (I think, based on the hard drive sled screws), dual 3 GHz machine in pretty great shape for around 100 €, which I've proceeded to empty out and clean, and...

    MacPro case mod

Cool, thanks! They really look like the simplest solution. Think I'm gonna go with them for my own future mod.

    MacPro case mod

Nice mod! I have a question for you about the Corsair backplane adaptors. The connectors look pretty "tall" compared to the stock Apple ones, or these single Corsair ones – have you noticed that in any way when inserting drives, or do they work fine?

    Untouched outside look Mac Pro

Wow, this looks really great! I like what you did with the PSU. I'm going to start my own Mac Pro mod soon (but probably more of a traditional one where I keep the original "wind tunnel" design) – will definitely use yours for inspiration. I'd be very interested to see more of your adapter...

Damaged CPU after cooler change? Severe kernel panic with AICPM.kext

So, haha. For anyone having the same problem… My BIOS settings had been partially reset, including the setting for iGPU memory. I flipped that back to 64 MB, and now the machine boots, as perfectly as ever.

Damaged CPU after cooler change? Severe kernel panic with AICPM.kext

I've since tried booting from my Clover-based installation USB stick, which has NullPCUPowermanagement.kext, with the same result. If it makes a difference :) I have no idea what to try next.

Damaged CPU after cooler change? Severe kernel panic with AICPM.kext

I'm having a bit of trouble after exchanging the cooler on my CPU. I had a fully working system with the following components: Asus P8H77-i Intel Core-i3 2105 OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 After I had made the cooler switch and plugged everything back in, everything looks good in UEFI BIOS – CPU is...

Modding a G5 and moving over my current build

Well, that's how it's supposed to work, isn't it? After installing Mavericks, I haven't done this mod again yet, since I don't use the front headphone jack anyway (I have my headphones plugged in the back, and a pair of USB speakers), but I think it involved editing the Info.plist of...

Clover boot stops working once custom SSDT is dropped in

I'm running Mavericks with only a Clover-generated SSDT for now. I've tried with a different sysdef (Macmini6,2 instead of MacBookPro10,1), but the result is the same. I'm attaching a syslog dump from a failed boot – I can't see anything obviously wrong with it, but I'm not that knowledgeable on...

Clover boot stops working once custom SSDT is dropped in

Thanks. Same issue for me though :( If I don't drop OEM tables, and let Clover generate C/P States, it boots (but with incorrect speedstepping). But, as soon as I add the ssdtPRGen-generated SSDT.aml file, it refuses to boot.

Clover boot stops working once custom SSDT is dropped in

Thanks for your reply! The updated config doesn't seem to make a difference unfortunately – the startup is halted both with and without SSDT (I'm assuming because Clover tries to generate the C/P States by default?)

Clover boot stops working once custom SSDT is dropped in

Hi, was hoping someone could help me… I currently have a (pretty much) working setup using Clover v. 1974. Before upgrading the machine to Mavericks though, I wanted to make sure I was using the latest of everything; the central component being Clover. Problem is, that even after "translating"...

Can't boot Clover UEFI on Asus P8Z77-M Pro

I'm preparing my computer for upgrading to Mavericks, and I want to create an all-UEFI setup. I have a working (except for the occasional hang after reboot) setup with Clover 1974, with a custom SSDT which gives me fully working speedstep for my i5-3750k. When I upgrade to Clover 2330 though, it...

HD 3000 on Ivy Bridge with Mavericks (framebuffer errors, no GUI at all)

Hi, I'm trying to install Mavericks on my server using a P8H77-I / i3-2105 combo, and I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall. Whenever I try to boot my OS X install from Chimera (on my MultiBeast stick), I get these errors: OSMetaClass: Kext...

Can't boot Clover UEFI on Asus P8Z77-M Pro

To get mine working in the end, I had to enabl EHCI Handoff in the BIOS, and tell Clover to drop the BGRT table(s) <key>DropBGRT</key> <string>Yes</string>

Modding a G5 and moving over my current build

I still haven't had time to work on the fan mounting solution, but the temporary setup is working great. I connected the two 140 mm to the CPU fan header on the motherboard (with a Y connector), since Asus' BIOS doesn't allow setting anything less than 60% power for the case headers :wtf: I'm...

    Question about Cube speakers

I just got a working Cube in great shape, including speakers, mouse and keyboard for 640 SEK (just shy of $100 USD). A cube project will definitely be coming down the line, when I get the time. But in the mean time, it would be nice to at least put the speakers to use. I'm not having much luck...

Modding a G5 and moving over my current build

That's not a problem – I really don't need automatic switching. However I would like to be able to do manual switching in Windows, too (like I can do in OS X now). Even if I can tell the motherboard that headphones are always plugged in, that would be an acceptable solution. Is it possible to do...

Modding a G5 and moving over my current build

Strike the following, see note below :) So… The front panel isn't working as well as I thought. Just tried the headphone jack, and it won't work. The HDA device is detected correctly according to system profiler, the UEFI BIOS is set to use HD Audio (and not ACL'97), and the front panel cable...
