Trying to upgrade from 10.8.5. Everything goes right until the Installer screen where my current SSD drive does not show up in the option list and DiskUtility. What did i do wrong?
So i did use the CCC to copy and install Chimera like you mentioned, after all its all working now. The system is upgraded with 256gb SSD and 16gb of 1600 DDR3.
Hi Stork,
I think i made it a bit hard to understand but i think i got it from ur reply. Technically i was thinking of booting from the current drive, say drive A, then use CCC to clone A to a newly purchased drive, say drive B.
A is a SATA2 HDD and B is a SATA3 SSD.
After that, simply...
Doesnt matter where you live that budget should allow you to build a nice Hackintosh for your purpose. If you read thru some of the guides or golden builds or even user builds here you would have a better idea.
Hi Stork,
I'm about to get my SSD. Just a quick question if you know about using the CCC copy. Can i use that to copy from the current drive to the new drive with the current drive being the boot drive?
Thanks
I havent tried playing video, but the error may be related to something you played that is not supported in OS X. What type of content did you try to play?
Yes mostly iTunes and iPhoto data. Currently I only have 1 HDD to store everything, OS and all data. I am thinking maybe the best is to get the 2nd drive in now, restructure the "data" - and move user data to this 2nd drive, which should spare the current HDD to only the OS and stuff. Then I can...
OK a few questions:
- Install the SSD in the SATA0 motherboard plug; - OK
- Boot up the system and format the SSD in Disk Utility as single GUID partition; - Boot up using the current HDD and format the SSD, correct?
- Use Copy Carbon Cloner (CCC) to copy your OS X from the HDD to the SSD...
I kind of (i hope) found a solution for my problem. I just have to wake the system up by pressing the power button instead of using any mouse click or keyboard press. I notice that this has been working for me with both KB and mouse eventually wake up after a few seconds.
OK then thats similar story. Sometimes I have to turn off/on again the mouse or reconnect, etc. But sometimes no matter what I do it wouldnt "revive". Other times, however, both KB and mouse would work just fine.
I guess i can live with this bluetooth dongle knowing we're hacintoshing!
I do have MT as stated from the beginning of this thread. I checked all settings and everything seems in order. I suspect the USB and/or the fact that the bluetooth KB/mouse go sleep to preserve battery has something to do with this. But i could be wrong.
The issue does not happen every time...
Question for Stork though, just saw my blutooth dongle on the "recommended part" here http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/search/label/CustoMac.
I wonder if i did something wrong or missing something thats y its not waking from sleep properly?
