well the problem was coming from the NvEnabler64 keyxt ... I had forgotten to remove it :eh: however i don't understand why you modified the whole aty_init keyxt framebuffers... only thoses under the 5700 section needs to be replaced to hoolock

since i installed the 5770 i'm getting rare kernel panics at boot (every 10/15 boots or so) and some strange UI freezes ( :beachball: spinning ...) is anyone having the same issues ?

did you set graphics enabler to no in com.apple.boot.plist (/Extra folder) ? you need to run a 32bit kernel too (arch = i386). you may also need the Snow leopard graphic update (for 10.6.4) . Check inside software update log in system preferences...

nice tip op. i have another tip concerning brightness control : use ALT + MAJ + Brightness UP/DOWN to control more accurately brightness level (4 sub levels for each 'bar') works with audio level too ;)

no the apple card isn't worth the extra bucks... go with a 5770 Eyefinity 5 edition ( 5 mini-dp ports). The eyefinity 6 (same card but based on a 5870 and with 6 mini-dp ports) has been reported to work on hackintoshes with 24" cinema displays, therefore the eyefinity 5 is very likely to work...
