In the process of direct upgrading to Catalina f(on Optiplex 990) following the guide, there's recommendation to install kexts using EFI mounter.
Sounds easy enough, however, the page of downloadable kexts contain files that have directories.

successfully installed High Sierra on OptiPlex 990 in Legacy mode. I have trouble figuring out UEFI mode, and adding a BOOT source properly, so Legacy mode seems to working just fine.

Was able to
1) make USB with Mojave in Legacy mode
2) install on SSD - the BIOS is set to Legacy and SATA to ACHI,
3) set up Mojave
4) run MultiBeast.
5) remove USB and reboot! That's the problem area.
When rebooting I get error message, "no bootable drive".
When I re-insert the bootable...
