I thought that by having lots of little 3mm holes in the acrylic it would be stronger than simply having circles cut out the size of a 120mm fan. It would also allow air to go in between the hard drives at the top as I could keep strips in place with no holes for the hdds to mount to.
With my...
So I have been doing some drawings and have come up with an idea for the bracket.
As can be seen by the picture showing the layout of the case I think the H80i in the bottom left as planed and the HDD drives above in the top right.
The other picture shows the basic layout of the bracket...
Yea a 240mm rad is probably overkill for my processor.
I reckon that an H80i in the bottom right hand side with the hdd bay in the top right with some fans on either side of the hdd bay in push pull to supply air to to the graphics card and the PSU.
My main issue is how to make the mount...
Last summer I did a G5 conversion, at the time I put a Arctic Cooling freezer 7 pro. I would really like water cool it now.
I would like to put a closed loop system in as I don't think I am up to building a full on water cooling system. I am specifically looking at either the Corsair H80i or...
If you don't want to buy a really long allen key, take an allen key head that would typically fit into a drill bit or changeable head screw driver and tape it into a long piece of metal or screwdriver! I managed to undo all my screws this way! Its not an elegant solution but it works!
I have the Lian Li mobo tray and its great, I would prefer to have two 80mm fans but with one it works fine! Plus you save a lot of money going the Lian Li route :)
Thanks, I will look into the noctua's and voltage reducers.
Won't go down the water route as I don't have the space in the case for that! I don't currently have a graphics card installed as I was waiting for the Geforce 650 TI to be released!
Hi,
I have used a converted G5 case for my hackintosh. It is a fantastic system and is almost everything I wanted. The only downside is the noise! It's really loud!
A short clip showing the noise level and internal layout of the computer.

Thanks for the help, I tried most of those techniques to get the card working but I never managed! I sent the card back in the end which was a shame as it was a great card at a great price!
I'm using the intel hd4000 at the moment which is working fine! I plan on getting a 650ti in the near...
Updated it to f8 and was still kernel panicking so I am just going to reinstall ML. I have cloned my SDD now so I am not to worried about anything now!
I will post a picture when I get back home tonight.
It's kping after about two seconds of showing the apple logo.
It didn't really occur to me that something could go wrong as their had been so much success around for ml!
Mountain Lion 10.8.1 Kernel Panic after update Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H
Well I guess I have just learnt the first rule of running a hackintosh, research before updating! I had a perfectly working system however I now get a kernal panic when I try to boot after updating to 10.8.1.
I am using a...
@tony would you say it is safe to buy a 550ti if you have your build working perfectly? I have a Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H.
I have already had to send one card back due to it being incompatible costing me £20 so I don't want to make another mistake!
Its the only card that really fits my...
Just thought I would update you on the whole 6850 situation.
I bought one however have had to send it back due to it now working with mountain lion.
I bought a XFX 6850 ZCFC version which as far as I can tell didn't work with lion either.
There are a lot of issues with the 6xxx series of...
Just to let everyone know that I am using this mobo with a i5 3570k and if I use the mac pro 3,1 system definition it works perfectly! Sleep, graphics etc :) Its was an aesthetic reason for me having it defined as Mac Pro as my system is in a Mac Pro case!
