    UtterDisbelief 17 - Z490i Aorus Ultra - i5-10600K - 32GB - GT710 & RX560

Same motherboard and case, yep. I did tweak the board a bit by ripping out the Intel WiFi and replacing it with a Broadcom card that slots into the M.2 on the back, but other than that, same machine. I'm pretty confident I've got it all wired up properly since it works OK in Windows. But I'm...

    UtterDisbelief 17 - Z490i Aorus Ultra - i5-10600K - 32GB - GT710 & RX560

Any chance you have headphones and microphone working with the front audio jack? I'm thinking it's maybe just not possible with my mobo. I'm able to get headhpones+microphone working with a splitter going into the backplane audio jacks, so it's not a huge problem, but it would be really nice to...

Random screen freezes and screen always freezes on Shutdown/Restart

Finally gave it a shot, and it worked!! Very excited to have my onboard sound back. Thank you so much!!!!! Now if I could just figure out which layout (or something) to use so I could get headphones _and_ microphone on the front audio jack of my NZXT H210, I'd be in heaven :-)

Random screen freezes and screen always freezes on Shutdown/Restart

I'll give it a shot. Mine is currently like this, which I'm hoping is the problem. <key>PciRoot(0x0)/Pci(0x1F,0x3)</key> <dict> <key>device-id</key> <data>cKEAAA==</data> <key>layout-id</key> <data>AwAAAA==</data> </dict> Thanks for the tip!!

Random screen freezes and screen always freezes on Shutdown/Restart

Update: I just discovered that the onboard sound isn't available. Not a huge problem since I don't really use it, but it does make the speakers I've got hooked up pointless now. Also, it means that I can't use wired earbuds, which will most definitely be a problem when my wireless ones die.

Random screen freezes and screen always freezes on Shutdown/Restart

I've got the same mobo and had the same issues -- crashes about every 10-15 minutes -- and removing the FakePCIID* stuff seems to have fixed the problem. I've been running for about 40 minutes now and no crashes so, hopefully this fixed the problem. I did not remove IntelMausi or add the...

    macOS 11.4 Update

It's happening! I spent the day upgrading to OC 0.69 and mapping my USB ports (long overdue -- now I have USB3!) and backing everything up, now finally, it's time to update the OS. 11.4, here I come!

Big Sur on HP EliteDesk 800 G4/G5 Mini - The Perfect MacMini8,1 Hackintosh - OpenCore

Another daily driver here. I dread OC updates for the same reason @rafale77 mentioned - editing config.plist by hand - and just the fear of completely borking my machine. I'm pretty sure that at least once I've ended up in Linux toying with efibootmgr trying to get back into MacOS after an OC...

    Gigabyte Z490i ITX / 10700K / Opencore 0.5.9 / Catalina 15.5.7 / A4 iTX Case

That's awesome! Just to confirm, you updated your bios after you were running MacOS? I'd really like to update mine (nice to keep everything updated), but like I said before, I'm a bit scared of updating it in fear that I might hose my Hackintosh.

Native 4K with Radeon 5500 XT

Nope, using iMac19,2 didn't make a difference. Same screen options, same scaling garbage. Worth a shot, though! Thanks :-)

Possible to test drive a different SMBIOS?

Can I swap my SMBIOS (on a thumb drive so I don't bork my machine, of course) without also needing to sign out of all the iCloud stuff, or is that not an option? I recently got a update on a post that I figured was dead, and I want to try out what the person suggested, which is switching my...

Native 4K with Radeon 5500 XT

Very interesting. I assume it's OK that I have a 27" screen? It would be so awesome to get native 4k output on this thing, and crisp up this text a bit. I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend :) Thanks for the tip!!!

    Gigabyte Z490i ITX / 10700K / Opencore 0.5.9 / Catalina 15.5.7 / A4 iTX Case

I actually disabled that because mine wouldn’t sleep due to the WiFi/Bluetooth card in the m.2 slot powered by the USB header in the motherboard. You should be able to reenable it pretty easily. Post about disabling it is here -...

    Gigabyte Z490i ITX / 10700K / Opencore 0.5.9 / Catalina 15.5.7 / A4 iTX Case

I'm on F6. I saw that F-21 (or something) is out now, but I'm too scared to update :-)

    macOS 11.2 Update

Updated to OC 0.6.6, took a backup, and ran software update. 3 restarts and about 30 minutes later, boom, 11.2.

<< Solved >> Backup using dd?

Ah, I didn't consider that. Not really an issue for me, personally. This will definitely be something that I just let run overnight, so the time isn't that big of a deal... Hopefully :-)

<< Solved >> Backup MacOS drive from Windows

I'm looking to do a similar thing (using dd, but from linux) and I was wondering how this was working for you? Have you tried restoring from one of your backups? I don't know why it wouldn't work - I've used dd countless times to copy whole drives - but I don't want to trust my intuition until...

<< Solved >> Backup using dd?

I was wondering if it's possible to create a backup of my system (for upgrade purposes, etc) using the "dd" command line program in Linux. I've seen a million articles about using CCCloner and other stuff, but it really seems like I should be able to use dd to make an image of the drive that I...
