XPS 9700 audio - Comet Lake PCH cAVS, any chances?

Any progress on dumping the codec/getting this to work? How'd you get the audio working on Ubuntu?

XPS 9700 audio - Comet Lake PCH cAVS, any chances?

I'm pretty sure my SSDT turns off the card, if you have a 9700 it should work for you. I'm able to get down to a total drain of 12 watts. I think running 8 cores on a 17 inch screen results in a decent amount of drain, though it could be a USB issue keeping me from getting even lower power...

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

EDIT: I ended up unlocking CFG, still can't wake sleep. Must be some of my settings (either OS or BIOS). I didn't do the CFG unlock. Also don't know how to extract BIOS settings. No luck with changing the various settings. I don't really know why you're having the thunderbolt/HDMI issues...

    Still no luck.

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

Fixed it, still can't wake from sleep. @tph33 are you on Monterey? I'm on 12.1. Your EFI needed BlueToolFixup.kext, IntelBluetoothFirmware.kext, latest version of AirportItlwm.kext and IntelBluetoothInjector.kext removed. With just those changes + SMIBIOS, I can boot and get...

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

Thunderbolt hotplug for DP + normal seems to be fine for me. I'm using a lot fewer TB SSDT/kexts than you. Tried your EFI without changing anything except SMBIOS + Serial number info. Booted but still no sleep. Do you know what settings you have for Hibernate mode? In Hackintool (version...

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

I see you used a different SMBIOS as me. I wasn't able to get my screens working using the MacBookPro16,4 SMBIOS you used and therefore opted to use iMac19,1. I think that's also the cause of my sleep issues, since I tried changing the Sign of Life BIOS option and still can't wake from sleep...

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

Good to know- my USB map is working great. I think sleep actually may have worked before when I was using USBInjectAll. I'd like to hear if yours still works when your dGPU is properly disabled and with Bluetooth working, if you get around to trying that.

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

99% sure it's the dGPU, my SSDT turns it off. Can get 8 hours of battery without undervolt. I'll check out the BIOS settings but I think is probably the CFG lock that's killing sleep for me. Not gonna reinstall at this point but may maybe down the road- I don't really NEED sleep.

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

Hey, thanks for uploading. The WEG flag doesn't seem to effectively disable the dGPU as I'm seeing much higher power draw if I only use that flag and not my SSDT. Are you running on AC power so you haven't noticed that? Which sleep/hibernation mode do you have set up? You're able to sleep...

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

Are you saying you are getting the dGPU to shut off with the regular SSDT? It's not loud when I'm using it for basic tasks - are your fans running a lot? Mine are generally off. Sleep is broken for me, did you do anything to get it working?

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

I think I got it to turn off. If someone wants to use my SSDT (it's modified, not the exact version on Dortania) and see how it works for you, please report back. If anyone has any improvements to build on this, I'm all ears.

That's not the issue, thanks though.

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

I see what you're saying. Tried your SSDT, no luck. It actually does seem like the SSDT-NoHybGfx.aml brings the power draw from ~35-40w down to 20w, so it's possible that the _PS3 call is actually working. But I also don't know if 15w for a D3 dGPU is actually normal so I'm not even sure it's...

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

Yeah, appears to be in an SSDT. Not sure why it doesn't work though. Extract are the native tables, ACPI are my OC add-ins.

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

Appears to be a variant of UHD 630, I'm using platform id 0500A53E + SMBIOS iMac19,1 with a bunch of framebuffer patches to get my internal screen working + dual 4k monitors @60 Hz over display port.

    XPS 9700 - dGPU won't go off/sleep

I was able to get the CPU (i7 10875H) down to minimum at idle and the package is drawing about 5w (memory + cpu). coconutBattery shows 20w power draw. I tried using SSDT-dGPU-Off.aml and SSDT-NoHybGfx.aml but I don't believe they are doing the job. Admittedly a novice around ACPI but I don't...

XPS 9700 audio - Comet Lake PCH cAVS, any chances?

Ended up using the MacBookAir9,1 SMBIOS data to feed into CPUFriendFriend (manually edited the code slightly to look at the Mac-0CFF9C7C2B63DF8D.plist) and generate the kext. You don't need to change your SMBIOS, just use the new kext.

XPS 9700 audio - Comet Lake PCH cAVS, any chances?

Check my repo for the CPUFriendDataProvider kext if you're interested, got the 800 MHz working. Battery drain is still around 15 watts so I've come to the conclusion that it's the dGPU draining battery despite being in the D3 low power state. If anyone sees this and knowns of a solution I'd...
