Hi @CaseySJ - apologies, I have been away on business for the last 9 days. I will check this today and run the test. I have the Z390 board installed, did that already have Intel WiFi on it? Yes, BIOS is F9i. Thanks

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I had stopped all login items and updated drivers before doing the update to Sonoma. I have just tried a fresh install to the USB3 Test Disk, using the updated Rel 096 EFI from your link. Install went fine, multiple reboots during the process all ok, then it boots to the Sonoma setup screen, I...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey So after weeks of trying I have still not got it to successfully upgrade to Sonoma and boot correctly. I used your pre-built EFI as suggested, booted fine on BigSur test disk, upgraded OC to REL 096 sucessfully and booted fine again. The Sonoma upgrade seemed to work ok, multiple...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi - Hi - sorry I didnt realise you meant not to delete the EFI. So as you say the FI updated fine but this time it has gone to 0.9.6. Looking at my current Big Sur it is running OC 0.6.2 currently. When you say we need to start with 0.6.6. on newer, do I need to update my live system? BIOS...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi @CaseySJ - followed your suggestion.... Made a clean new clone 'Big Sur Test Drive' - booted fine on old OC and EFI. Removed all Login items, set all apps not to start at login, checked updates on everything. Booted fine. Downloaded a fresh copy of Hackindrom - clicked and updated OC via...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ - Sorry I missed that - Hackindrom did it's thing and OC now updated. Completed the update on the test disk to Sonoma. All went well. It boots to the login screen. I can login but then 20 seconds later the machine just randomly reboots. If I leave it at the login screen without...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi Casey So 2 full bootable clones all up and running. One backup and one test. Downloaded the latest Hackindrom - mounted the Big Sur Test EFI - clicked update - looks like it has updated to the OC 0.8.3. Is this correct as I can see OC 0.9.5 is out?

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks :) So I have created the workable clone on an external drive as backup and then a second as a working copy to test upgrading to Sonoma. Is it better to put a new version of Opencore on a USB key and select this in BIOS then boot the clone drive to test? Or just try and upgrade Opencore...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks CaseySJ for such a quick response. Excellent thanks - I have CCC so will give this a go. System report indeed says I am running a Broadcom card - Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (7.77.111.1 AirPortDriverBrcmNIC-1680.11) I have the machine on Ethernet anyway so could live without WiFi short term...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Need a bit of a brain refresher from you fine people.... Been out of the game for a while..... I built my current build back in '2020' following this thread, got most bits working and have used it everyday since. It's my daily driver powering a 40" LG widescreen and used as my WFH machine for...

@CaseySJ would you be able to point me in the right direction on this one. I have cloned my working Big Sur install on to a USB3 Sandisk Extreme - with a view to booting from this to run an update to Ventura as a test. Clone made following your mini guide and CCC. I have tried a new EFI from...

Morning - apologies as I am sure this has been covered before but I am struggling to hunt down the right posts in this thread.... I have been running my build for the past couple of years, all well apart from the odd boot issue. So seems to be running as follows: MacOs BigSur 11.4 Opencore...

Bit stuck - can anyone call out what I am doing wrong? Have been running on this build for well over a year with no issues. Currently on Big Sur 11.4. Completed a full bootable backup using the guide and CCC to a USB SSD. Tucked it away somewhere safe. Completed a second full clone on another...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi guys - can any one help with a Ethernet port issue. My port (I think maybe both) on the Z390 has dropped a few times saying cable unplugged. It has also started a connection at 1gbe but then randomly seems to drop back and connect at 100Mb. Unplugging a few times seems to get it working...
