Removing Atheros only disabled my internet. So I tried disabling AppleALC next. GeekBench seems to no longer trigger kernel panic but abruptly stops around the same point. I started the CPU Benchmark again and was successful -- a whopping 31491 multicore score! Obviously some work yet to be done...
