You might try what I had to do after going to a GTX680. you can do it one of two ways. hit -x to boot into the system in safe mode and then in your extra's folder change the entry in the .plist found there that has the IPGENabler= Yes and change it to =No instead of Yes.
That might allow...
I've been trying all sorts of things to try and resolve the issues I currently have with the latest updates on 10.8.5 and 10.9.2 loaded on separate drives.
On my 10.8.5 install I can use multiple resolutions and am currently using 1600X1200 at 60hz this is on a Dell 24" LCD.

Ok... Maybe i'm not giving you all of the info. I get the Mac logo and thge loading spinner and then it finishes to a gray screen and all drive ativity stops. How do I get into the system to enable the GraphicsEnabler=NO to see if that will allow the system to finish the boot. I would rather not...
It was already setup with the GraphicsEnabler=NO when I had the other card in the system. So it changed becuase I swapped out the vid card?? That doesn't sound logical or right....
