A bit of sad news I pulled the trigger on a Mac Mini M2 Pro and have since retired the z68 after all these years. I kept updating the hackintosh, and OpenCore really made it very good until Ventura. The fact that Ventura was impossible to run on the 2600K meant that it was time to make a move...

Resolution Issue at POST, Clover Boot & Login Screen

@rocco_77 Lots of technical info here, only thing I can add for now is : - check the dvi cable, at least try another cable, or go hdmi (which is nice to have audio if that's relevant to the setup) - if the video card has dual bios, try the other setting. (My 580 can do opencore at higher...

Update 0.6.6 I've skipped sharing the last few opencore point releases because of some stability issues. Turns out if I don't overclock the snot out of my 10 year old computer, it works fine, and it's hard to tell the difference anyways. In the process of trying to fix this, I revisited the...

Did absolutely nothing, it's out of the box  Difference here is that you're using two cards, and a mix on nvidia/amd ? That's courageous. I don't have the MSI version, but the Sapphire nitro. Is it ok if it's the only card inserted ? Hard to recommend anything for your setup...

this is not the same board. Disabling the iGPU is a given at this point. I'm on opencore 0.6.4 right now, daily driving it for a while before posting here. Seeing as it's not exactly the same board, have a look at the opencore page for sandy bridge and follow this step by step.

Hey don't know about USB3, it's always going to be less compatible because it's a less native chipset. Be sure to plus in usb3 devices only in usb3 ports. I think it's possible to migrate over from a legacy install is the partitions are the same, perosnally, I'd do this on a separate drive...

not sure about this, the U1G decompresssed on osx is 4.2mb too. There are two revisions to this board (1.0 and 1.3), make sure you get the right one.

I downloaded it and it opened no problems with https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/the-unarchiver/id425424353?mt=12 Z8XPUD3P.U1G is the only file that needs to be copied to a fat formatted usb stick to flash the bios if I remeber correctly

Think it needs to be executed to extract the contents under windows or with a program that can do it on osx

Yep, has been working stable for me, Catalina, Big Sur, makes no difference, all the files are in the zip file. I'm testing removing a couple ACPI files, just keeping SSDT-EC.aml SSDT-HPET.aml SSDT-PLUG.aml and obviously removing the references to these two in config.plist: SSDT-UIAC.aml...

The big decision you have to make is to update the board to UEFI. It says on the opencore site, that most mostherboards of this generation didn't all support UEFI, so we're lucky. F7 bios is legacy (non UEFI), so I'm believe the files I shared wouldn't work, and I haven't tried legacy booting...

Thanks for the kind words, this was the entire point. Back when I started this thread in 2011, hackintoshing was barely becoming less of a pain, there were other board owners here doing this and I though it was a great idea to pool our knowledge to make things a bit more straightforward for...

If you change the mac model, to my knowledge, this does not work. you can test with opencore configurator and do the serials there, or try the https://github.com/corpnewt/GenSMBIOS route

a compatible smbios is required to have the update. I used MacPro and it works. in the Opencore bootpicker, try NVram reset to make sure no old crap remains, and if coming from clover be sure to remove all traces : https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/clover-conversion/

couple things my folder's UEFI based, but if you're booting fine and have iServices issues it's probably the serial. You have to generate a new one. I didn't share mine for obvious reasons :)

About monitors. Why not 32 inch 4k ? There's tons of screen real estate.

macOS 11.0 Big Sur is Now Available on the Mac App Store

I updated to Opencore 0.6.3 before attempting the upgrade on a 2600k SandyBridge. I yolo'ed the update straight from Catalina. I can't believe how far hackintoshing has come over the years. 30 minutes of updating later, flawless upgrade. Jury's still out on BigSur's aesthetic UI...

Big Sur was finally released, and took the plunge "early" as usual. I did the update from a working Catalina 10.5.7 that I previously updated to Opencore 0.6.3 from 0.6.2 (haven't posted 0.6 versions because it's an older board that few people seem to use anymore) That being said, in...

@rocco_77 : No I didn;t do the BigSur update yet. But when it lands, the goal is to do a native normal update like a mac. 0.6.1 is supposed to handle big sur, as people are running betas apparently. Realistically, will probably update to the latest OC version and do the native update from the...
