I used 17,1 (using Multibeast 10.4) on my 10.13.6 Mac OS X instance and the flickering is gone which I had using 18,3 and 14,2.

After creating a bootable backup and having a Bluetooth keyboard I redid the update and this time it went through flawlessly.

I am not 100% sure but I think I enabled FileVault but now it is off.

The upgrade went through flawlessly, but, after a few reboots, I could no longer login as the keyboard input was not accepted by OS X. It worked on the BIOS and the Clover Boot screen, though. Eventually, I had to re-install the 10.13.5 through a TM backup which fixed the issue.
