First Time Hackintosh builder would like to ask for some advice!

Yes a M.2 SSD NVMe would be good, I have heard they can be tricky to get working. So personally, I would have a standard SSD or HD just to get off the blocks with. CPU is really up to you. I use Adobe apps, which are terrible at using additional cores. Most apps are rubbish at this except 3D...

Interesting, you have virtually the same setup as me, I don't have that issue at all. I'm on OS 10.13.13. I have uploaded my Clover config.plist for you

Good GPU for Photoshop and a 4K display

I have found that by turning off "Use Graphics Processor" in Photoshop and Illustrator has given me a massive performance boost. I think I will just sit on it for a bit until the price of cards comes down... whenever that is! I would love to hear from anybody out there who uses Photoshop on a...

CustoMac Mini Deluxe for Photo/video editing + Cinema Display

<Sigh> yep it seems you are right, Apple have created a limitation: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2011/09/apples-thunderbolt-display-doesnt-play-nice-with-mini-displayport/

Should I use an M.2 drive for MacOS boot?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the M.2 that use Sata are much slower than the ones that use NVMe. So if you are going to bother go all in with NVMe, from what I gather all you need is NVMeGeneric.kext "Apple's High Sierra now natively supports NVMe SSDs. For Sierra and earlier macOS, see...

CustoMac Mini Deluxe for Photo/video editing + Cinema Display

I have no idea about ThunderBolt support. But I would assume that the Display can work using Display Port also, that is very much supported. As for the drives... I just chuck them inside, no need for a external unit!

Good GPU for Photoshop and a 4K display

Thanks for the fast response! Why AMD over Nvidia? I thought that Nvidia had much better GPUs? Also do you use Photoshop? The GTX1050 can run 4 displays and has no issues running 4K, its only once Photoshop start using it that the thing slows to a crawl.

Good GPU for Photoshop and a 4K display

Hi all. I have built my first Hackintosh. As a Noob, I just bought a cheap GPU, the GTX1050 with 2GB DDR5. Everything was going well, until I drop in a new 4K display and fired up Photoshop and started working on large files. My whole system was so slow, it was unusable. I finally worked out...

High Sierra boot loader stuck halfway for Asus Prime H270-Plus w/ KabyLake

Take out the Video card and see it you can get it to work without it for now. I have a ASUS prime H270 Pro, from memory, in the Bios, reset it to defaults, then turn of secure boot, OS to Other, Enable Intel Virtualisation Tech, turn off Fast Boot.

Thanks for letting me know. Well fo the greater good... I have a very similar build. Every thing seems to be going well I have the same issues, no iMessage, no rear audio. Which is fine as I don't really care. I might try and have a look into it, if I work it out I will post back here

Newb question on the very very basics.

I have just done my first build, my top tip: work out what board you have, then search for it, chances are someone else has done the work for you! Next tip, start without the Video card in, use the inbuilt graphics to get you off the blocks. Once you get it working, then try and mess around...
