Mac Mini first build - DIY case + reccomendations

You would need a 'K' series processor to even consider overclocking. Based off that and the fact that you listed "any small one" as a cooler, you probably don't have to worry about it.

Mac Mini first build - DIY case + reccomendations

They are very similar boards. The GAMING 5 is geared towards overclocking, with more power delivered to the CPU (4+4 pin) and additional cooling on some MoBo components. I would get whatever is cheaper since your build doesn't seem geared towards OCing. 6th Gen is perfectly fine IMO. There...

(Almost Success build) Asus ROG maximus VIII Impact, i5 6500 3.2ghz, GTX980 Ti 6gb.

I think the Asus card has limited support, but some Broadcom chips will fit and are well supported. I think you need to enable Intel 530 in Multibeast, but not 100% sure. Yeah, it is because you have a HDD. The SSD in the MBPs will be much faster.

It sounds like you are about where I am at as far as what is and is not working. My video also flickers. I won't be able to do more troubleshooting until tonight or tomorrow so if you figure anything out let me know. It can be done, but it is a little tricky. Remove the two screws on the...

Are you using the Asus Go! WiFi/BT card that came with the M8I, or did you swap it for a Broadcom chip? I did the swap but still have the take the time to get it working in macOS (it's working in Windows).

Sure, no problem. I started by updating my BIOS to version 3201(direct download). I then copied what Stork did in this Maximus VIII GENE install: Extreme Tweeker tab AI Overclocker Tuner > X.M.P. Extreme Tweeking > Enable Advanced Items tab System Agent (SA) Configuration > VT-d >...

That is a rather hight TDP CPU to be running fan less. Based of the illustration I assume you are going to have a rear exhaust fan? I would say you could remove the rear exhaust fan and keep a fan on the cooler pointed out that way.

Just installed Sierra last night, do you have a guide for getting the sound to work? What sort of speeds are you getting with the U.2 drive?

    Sierra Setup: GIGABYTE GA-H170N-WIFI + i5 6500 + ZOTAC GTX 1050 Ti + Ballistix Sport LT 16GB

It looks like you have covered everything I would think about when doing my build. That should be a very nice build and I really like that case.

Nice mini build for under €1000 - First time Hackintosh build

The boards are nearly identical and since you won't be overclocking, I would go with the WIFI and save a little money. Sierra won't be an issue with your build and the Z170N-WIFI has several guides that you can use as references. Are you sold on that case? I believe there are smaller...

Coolest cases out there. What's your favorite?

I am just starting a build in a Silverstone SG13. Not the most beautiful case (I actually do like the looks however), but I found it to be at the intersection of great price, small size, and maximum component compatibility. I always seem to gravitate towards Silverstone, Lian Li, or Corsair...

    Recommended mini-ITX motherboards unavailable

If you are in the U.S., are you near a Fry's or Micro Center? I just went to MC this weekend and there are plenty of new and open box mITX motherboards to be had.

    Small but *with* graphics card?

This is by far the best mini-ITX case resource I have found (Google Docs spreadsheet). The folks over at r/sffpc put it together.

    mATX budget build

Looks like a fine build. Tons of RAM for multitasking and enough CPU power to drive those applications you listed.

    New to Hackintosh, need advice

Great catch. I agree, that AIO is top of the line, but that motherboard won't be able to push your processor hard enough to take advantage of it.
