    ASUS X299 Monterey/Ventura Support

Hi, there! I've been looking over the opencore guide to make sure I didn't miss anything and also searched the forum, but can't seem to find anything on potential issues with intelimausi.kext and/or SmallTreeIntel82576.kext not working with Monterey. The internet was working fine on Catalina...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Well, I couldn't get TB to work at all, let alone the hotplug. DSM2 and yourself at least got TB working, minus the hotplug of course. I'll give it another shot once I'll have some downtime and I'll make sure to upload ioreg.

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I haven't had any luck with getting TB to work yet with or without SSDT you've provided. I do need to spend more time and dive deeper into it as there is a good chance I've overlooked something or missed a step. The only TB device I currently have is an Antelope audio interface, and I have not...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I figured it most likely won't have any noticeable effect for audio performance, but wasn't entirely sure. Thanks for the info.

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

So I've done a little reading about about the whole TB3-PCI vs TB3-PCH and now I'm thinking of possibly switching to a different motherboard. Though, I wonder if the bandwidth limitation of TB3-PCH is something that will be evident while using a TB3 audio interface. Couldn't find anything that...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

That's what it was...disabling of certain SATA ports when M.2 drives are installed. Now I remember it. Need to take a look at my IOReg. I just know that one M.2 drive (with macOS) is installed in the slot right next to CPU. Second M.2 drive (with Win) is installed in the slot underneath/next to...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I see. That makes sense. Running two GPUs does change things. I wonder if shared bandwidth means I won't be able to use TB3 because I have two M.2 drives installed. I need to take a look at the manual to see if they have a chart in there listing limitations of various M.2 configurations. Thank...

That sounds awesome. Glad to see progress is being made with TB3 on various motherboards. Did you make a switch to Gaming 7 Pro motherboard? I thought you settled with Deluxe for good :) I was actually thinking about trying to spend some time on figuring out how to implement SSDT for my...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

So I have the following annoyance, it's not too big of a deal, but it is annoying nonetheless: when I cold boot the macOS drive, the screen hangs just before switching over to user login page (it reminds me of scenario with an Nvidia GPU that happens before you would apply an AGDP fix). Every...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Haven't had a chance to test it yet. I've only used USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices. Not even sure if I have a USB C device for testing purposes.

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I'm pretty sure I'm using DSM2's USB kext. So far every port that I have tried is working. I need to find time to test TB ports. Either way, thanks for the info. I greatly appreciate it. I might have more questions later on :)

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Thanks for a quick reply, Rulebreaker01. Appreciate it. Well, I suppose as long as I'll just get TB to work, I'll be happy. I only am planning on using one TB device (audio interface) for the time being, so not having a successfully implemented TB hot plugging won't hamper my overall experience...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

@maleorderbride, got a few questions as well: your linked post mentions that method outlined in that post also works for x99 Designare EX. Is it reasonable to assume that it would also work for X299 Designare EX? Or is X299 Designare EX equipped with a different model of a TB chip? Would that...

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I finally have access to a Mac, so I can work on creating USB installer for my Designare EX board. My question is: Do instructions in sections: D.2 & D.3 of this guide still apply to 10.13.4 even though they are for 10.13.3? Or should I wait for the guide to be updated accordingly?

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

I agree, it's not a deal breaker in any way. Was just curious if anything has changed. I'm actually quite happy with this mobo performance in Windows. Now want to get Os X installed to see if it will perform better than it does in Windows. Either way, thank you for your quick responses.

How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Thanks for the quick response. So by "Thunderbolt working perfectly", do you also mean that it is actually hot pluggable? Or is it the same as with a Gigabyte or ASUS add-on cards where you have to connect and power a Thunderbolt device prior to booting the system?

Hey, DSM2. I apologize for a slightly off-topic question, but I wanted to know if Thunderbolt ports are functional on your Designare EX board?

What motherboards with Thunderbolt 3 work with a 8th generation i7-8700K processor

We do have Fry's here. I'm so used to buying everything online (even groceries) that I rarely go there even though I live about 10 minutes away from one. I just checked their site and it's $1399 (+ tax). Maybe there was a Christmas sale on it which is now over I found a brand new 1920x for...

What motherboards with Thunderbolt 3 work with a 8th generation i7-8700K processor

I guess it's not too bad if you only had to change the permissions once. If you had to do it constantly then I see how it would get annoying quickly. Well, I'm going to do more reading and hopefully make a decision which way I'll go within a week or two. I appreciate your insight and feedback.
