How to determine if an "OverClock" is stable?

If crashing under load during a compile, certainly wouldn’t call it stable. Easy enough to test- dial it back a little bit and continue testing with what you are doing when it crashes. Might have to bump some voltages or whatnot, or it just is never going to happen at that clock rate. You...

The everything works Asus Z390-I Gaming * i7-8700K * SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 Build

Same here, updated to 10.15.4. Started getting the Bios Safe mode. F1, Exit and continue without losing settings. (Good time to save a profile anyway) Tried the RTCExclude ranges with the RTCFixup kext, and spent some time trying to hone in on a range that worked, but even excluding the full...

Yeah. Some info here that will lead you to the source discussion. Every time I post external links, they get removed. https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/after-update-to-10-15-4-bios-resets-every-time.294529/page-3

replacing the boot.efi (/System/Lib/CoreServices) from 10.15.3 appears to fix the bios reset issue. It has for me anyway, but have been reading elsewhere that doesn't work with opencore. I've yet to make the switch to OpenCore so I can't comment, but I feel like I'm going to need to switch...

    AMD Radeon Navi GPU

Just tested the latest Matty 5700XT .aml, along with the PEGP to EGP0 patch. Geekbench OpenCL score about the same as when injecting the properties. The Compute Device name has returned to being AMD Radeon 5700 XT 50th Anniversary as it was previously (I have 5700XT Liquid Devil, but that's...

    AMD Radeon Navi GPU

Just tested with using the "Adder" framebuffer with my 5700xt. Added the properties to my config.plist, WEG loaded with agdpmod=pikera. EFI Driver Version shown in System Information as "EFI Driver Version: 01.00.3180" and I can see that framebuffer is used by checking IORegistryExplorer...

    "Not posting" issue since 10.15.4

10.15.4 appears to have brought with it an issue that causes some BIOSes to come up in safe mode. Appears to be some changes with RTC (?). Regardless, appears to be happening with either Clover or OpenCore. With my BIOS (Asus z390i) all I have to do is hit F1 and then exit. Luckily it...

Z390 now has working NVRAM. Tested and now no longer need EmuVariable and related rc.scripts. See here: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/pastrychefs-asus-rog-strix-z370-g-gaming-wi-fi-ac-build-w-i9-9900k-amd-vega-56.239969/page-873#post-2061318

Working here too (Z390-I). Can clean up the various scripts that were used to help persist the nvram.plist as well.

You mentioned that you "copied" the EFI folder to the hard disk - does that mean you copied it to the EFI folder that Clover created (and not to the root of your Mac partition)? Because it looks like the only boot options are from the "Jetflash" USB flash drive.

    Booting a Z390 with 128GB RAM? (32GB UDIMM issue)

I recently had similar issue on my Asus Z390-I which only has two DIMM slots, when I was installing 2x32Gb DIMMS. Worked great in Windows, “+++++++” on my hack. In the end, I’m using AptioMemFix (with boot arg “slide=0” In my case) and specified my memory sticks as KyleC recommended above...

Don’t give up on your Broadcom card just yet. If you don’t see it in your USB devices it usually just means you have to work out your USB configuration. Make sure Bluetooth and WiFi are enabled in bios. Use the excellent hackintool to view your usb devices. Use the help menu from within that...

2019 Mac Pro is Now Available at Apple.com

Recently watched some old videos of “Computer Chronicles” online, and it’s entertaining to get some perspective on pricing. Damn awesome looking machine, and out of pure gluttony I am interested in buying the base model. Not enough upside over my hacks just yet.

Going to have to look up the tutorials for how to create the usb installer with the TM tools. I'm not able to put up links to other sites here, but a quick google will get you to a nicely formatted set of instructions on how to create an installer USB from the Catalina installer app package, as...

The 5700xt might give you issues when installing fresh. I’d definitely start with the most recent installer (10.15.2 at this time). I have no idea what is in those EFI folders right now (on my phone), but I’d assume that the CAt GPU is a good starting point with the 5700xt installed. If...

You probably don't have native NVRAM with the Z390-I (nor do I), so I don't believe that crash reports will be available. I will say that I'm on 10.15.2 on a pretty similar setup: SMBIOS iMac19,1, 9900K (Corsair 240mm AIO water cooler) two Samsung NVME disks, Sapphire Pulse 5700XT all crammed...

Up and running with 64GB. Changed to AptioMemoryFix, slide=0 and possibly specifying the SMBIOS memory as 4 x 16GB modules. I say possibly because I was trying so many things to get the thing to boot with 64GB installed, I'm not yet able to say if that is 100% necessary. Found a thread on...
