Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

Interesting! I commented on another post in this thread that I was having boot loops when having a monitor plugged into dvi, I didn't try plugging the monitor in AFTER the boot process..

Solving NVIDIA Driver Install & Loading Problems

My system is very similar (ga-z170mx gaming 5 with f20, 64gb, gtx 950) and I was getting the same problem booting with EmuVariableUefi-64 active. I found out that the booting behavior changed depending on what monitor i had connected and in the end found out that DVI booting didn't work at all...

Nvidia drivers not loading - "Display 7mb"

My case turned out to be weird. With web drivers enabled i had different behavior for different graphic connector types. DVI: couldn't fully boot. Computer reset at the 2/3rds mark HDMI: lost screen during boot process, but I think that it still booted. When I blind-entered the login password, I...

Nvidia drivers not loading - "Display 7mb"

Thank you so much for your follow-up! I'm new to the whole hackintosh world, so I'm learning tons every day about it. My nagging suspicion is that there's something wrong with my GTX950. I bought a damaged box item, but what I received was a used card. It could very well be that, when I'm...

Nvidia drivers not loading - "Display 7mb"

I'm in the same boat as you were, save for my motherboard being a GA-Z170MX Gaming 5 and that "EmuVariableUefi-64" installed via Clover Configurator prevents my system from booting. I'm super newb, so I am SURE there's something that hasn't sunk in yet. It's a HUGE encouragement to see...

A newb's build featuring a bootable NVME m.2 drive in Sierra

If you can get a good deal on the Samsung SM951 or clone that ReHabMan mentioned, I believe that it's nearly the speed of an NVMe but with the AHCI command set.

    Problem with Nvidia GTX 950

Ah! Thank you! That's very interesting! So in my case the Display 7mb is perhaps a step in a better direction as it means that, at least, it's no longer injecting. I appreciate your insight and I hope to contribute something useful once I figure out that the deal is. Would you suggest...

    Problem with Nvidia GTX 950

Did you get anywhere with this? I've been having a really great challenge getting the hackintosh to correctly use the GTX 950 2GB as well. I'm using Sierra with a ga-z170mx gaming 5, but I've run into the same funky behavior. When I boot from the Unibeast prepared install USB drive, the...

A newb's build featuring a bootable NVME m.2 drive in Sierra

Just checking back in! I took your advice and just went with the AHCI sm951 and you were right, it couldn't have been easier. Thank you for the guidance, ReHabMan

A newb's build featuring a bootable NVME m.2 drive in Sierra

Being that the SM951/AHCI is a discontinued product, I'd hoped that by persisting I could make something of an approachable guide to using the patches that you've made and flushing out the elements of the installation procedure that still seem vague in the guides that I've seen.... But I was...

A newb's build featuring a bootable NVME m.2 drive in Sierra

It looks like the SM951/AHCI is quite expensive, while I was able to get the 950 Pro 256GB for $140 (refurb) without trouble. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason why the SM951/AHCI is so much easier is because it should just work without any Kext patching?

A newb's build featuring a bootable NVME m.2 drive in Sierra

Because this looks like a real uphill battle, I'm also building with a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD. My thinking is that I can get started with the SATA drive and learn a bit and if I'm able to do as planned and get the 950 Pro nvme working as my boot drive, I'll just use...

State of Booting off M.2 SSD -- First Hackintosh

I got a good deal on a refurb'ed SM950 PRO so I figured I'd give it a go. From various threads it had seemed like people were able to get this working, but I'm super new to this so there's a great chance that I've misunderstood. We'll see!

A newb's build featuring a bootable NVME m.2 drive in Sierra

At this moment making heads and tails of your repository is something of an uphill battle (aka me=newb) but I'm going to give it my best effort. I had the impression that modification to the EFI:/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist was all that is needed to allow one to install to the attached m.2 NVME...

A newb's build featuring a bootable NVME m.2 drive in Sierra

Hello all! I'm really new to the world of Hackintosh and have been looking for a guide for getting an NVME m.2 drive to work as your install-able and bootable drive. I'm going to keep a diary and hopefully produce a guide to convey what I've learned through the whole process to hopefully help...

State of Booting off M.2 SSD -- First Hackintosh

I'm slowly collecting the parts for a z170mx gaming 5 based build and also wanted to go with the m.2, how did it go? I think that it would be fine because the mentioned m.2 thread pointed out that drives like the 850 use the first form of m.2 which is sata.

A high quality mATX case that is affordable and good looking

I'm doing a build now with the Thermaltake v21 and it's a really really well made case at a few bucks cheaper. Lian Li is nice stuff though, would never shake a stick at.

    OpenCL vs OpenGL

Hello all and thank you to anyone who has read this, I've been fantasy-building for a while and it all seems pretty approachable. I'm building a hackintosh for my graphic designer fiance' and I want it to be a monster, especially at Photoshop. What I gather is that Photoshop supports OpenCL...
