I'm back after years of absence and spent the last 12+ hours to set up my old Mac Pro 5,1 (SMBIOS; I know this isn't the preferred choice anymore, but again I've already put too much effort into this, and other users with similar hardware have been quite successful with this) build...
I can confirm that I'm able to boot into El Capitan from both USB Installer and UEFI (F12).
I'm a bit confused now: what is the correct boot order in BIOS and what exactly has my failed Sierra installation messed up?
What is your recommendation on how to proceed further?

I forced a hard shutdown during another freeze (apple logo; loading screen).
Now I don't have access to clover bootloader anymore.
It's booting straight into my Windows drive.

I've been trying to update Sierra from El Capitan (Clover Version 2.4k rev 4061).
I followed the guide, but I'm stuck at the following step:
"Boot macOS Install from Hackintosh HD"
I tried to boot with and without injected kexts (nv_disable=1, nvda_drv=1) ... still no success. All...
Right, so I bought a new Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H motherboard and got my Windows partition to work.
The system runs on 3,9 GHz smoothly and I can now boot into Mac OS X El Capitan. I will need to upgrade to Sierra in order to use my Pascal GPU in the next few days.

So I was able to boot with full setup: GPU and four slots of RAM... got into BIOS, had optimized settings loaded, then rebooted and click: black screen again.
I feel like a headless chicken now.
Maybe I should turn my back on this and just capitulate...
Hi there, the PCIe slot seems to be fine as I was able too boot into BIOS and Clover with my GPU installed plus one or two bars of RAM. Not sure if my third RAM slot is corrupt, didn't get past boot loader as either Mac OS or Windows showed an error. Any boot flags or BIOS settings recommended...
I finally made it into BIOS and Clover boot loader so far.
Booted into Mac OS got me another circle error.
Made a restart and now having the same issues with boot loops again. What's going on... seriously?!
Okay, I was able to boot into BIOS by taking out the GPU, with just one block of RAM and no battery on the board.
I then installed the GPU plus RAM again and was able to boot into BIOS for another time. I restarted the system and got the same boot failure and black screen again.
