    Frustrated...

I'll wait for this new CPU and motherboard, as they're 370 chipset and that limited edition 40th anniversary i7-8086K Intel is selling (4GHz, 5GHz turbo, 6 core 12 thread)... When I get those I'll start over with a new thread if I still have problems. GTX 1080: I use the HDMI outputs, and they...

    Frustrated...

I tested with a multisync and the video card stops outputting a signal but the machine is still running and I can blindly log in and cause HD activity. I have decided to buy a new CPU and motherboard, and approach this with newer hardware.

    Frustrated...

Yeah, it's a bit of a trap. I plan to do some more testing this weekend with a single multisync monitor, in case it is just showing some weird mode that is sending the monitor to sleep. Meanwhile I am working with my 2011 MBP 17", so I am getting by.

    Frustrated...

If it helps any, I can connect the SSD to my old macbook via SATA<>USB adapter. It mounts fine and I can access the EFI and High Sierra partitions. If I can resolve the black screen issue from here.... I'd be off to a running start.

    Frustrated...

Yes. I got to the MacOS desktop. Then I ran MultiBeast and chose sane settings (UEFI, audio chipset, bare minimal config). I got the nVidia web driver installed but can't get it to activate. Then, when prompted to update clover I accepted, and now it boots to a black screen. Even if I boot off...

    Frustrated...

On the most recent clover update, reboots are to a black screen on my 6700K/Gigabyte Z170MX-5, Asus 1080 Ti 11GB, 48GB system. I haven't been able to do updates to High Sierra since 10.13.3 without rolling back to that. Anyhow, bought a new Samsung 1TB SSD and decided to go for a fresh install...

    Sierra > High Sierra problems...

I did this and it made no difference. I've ordered the sabrent USB adaptor to get me going. I think I'll order another SSD next paycheck and do a fresh High Sierra install on that from scratch so everything's clean, then just move everything over.

    Sierra > High Sierra problems...

I tried the bootloader HDA reset option but it just hung on reboot. After a power off reset, it came back. I don't know how to fix ACPI when Clover won't play nice and errors on a save. It's just updated too.

    Sierra > High Sierra problems...

Hi all. Been using Sierra happily with no major problems (just couldn't sleep) for a year. Just followed the instructions to upgrade to High Sierra and have a couple of problems. First the good news: you guys rock. The 1080 Ti works great, and the new driver is a bit quicker and better than the...

    Skylake HWP Enable

I followed these instructions and had some success. I have a cool and stable overclock the 4.4GHz. The only downer is that my "About this mac" speed has dropped from a claimed 4.01 GHz to 1.99 GHz. Benchmarks and the Intel Power Gadget show it slammed at 4.4GHz, 27.5C, 5.7W with 20 and 2C...

NVIDIA 'Pascal' Graphics Drivers Released: Buyer's Guide Updated!

Today I installed an Asus Turbo GTX 1080 Ti 11G in my hackintosh. I had to update Clover, and do both parts of fix #6. It has about the same performance as 2x R9 280X in FCPX, and frame rates in games like World of Tanks have gone from ~45 to ~95. Night shift works. Audio over HDMI works...

NVIDIA Announces 'Pascal' Graphics Drivers Coming to MacOS

Drivers installed. Asus GTX 1080 Ti ordered from Newegg. And now, the wait. In a week or so, I'll be selling two R9 280X. Fun times. :D

Gigabyte GA-z170MX-Gaming 5 on board Graphics Resolution

I have that exact motherboard. If you update the firmware (easy!) so far, OOB with Sierra 10.12.2 it supports 1080, 4K 30 or 60fps, and 5K 25, 30 or 60fps with no special settings. I did have to configure Clover so it's faking an iMac (27-inch, Late 2013). I then installed a Radeon R9 280X and...

Installing Sierra GM on a NVMe SAMSUNG 950 Pro (ASUS Z170i Gaming Pro) [success]

Success with these and linked instructions. Intel NVMe 512GB M2 4 lane card on Gigabyte Z170MX Gaming 5, 6700K, 48GB, R9 280X, with a 1TB SATA SSD as the boot device. Toshiba TR150 SATA SSD = 488MB/s write, 501MB/s read INTEL SSDPEKKW512G7 = 551MB/s write, 1531 MB/sec read Apple SSD...

Radeon Compatibility Guide - ATI/AMD Graphics Cards

If I'd like to add a reference Gigabyte R9 280X to my 6700K/170 board with Sierra, is it best to disable the HD530 graphics first, or can I just throw that bad boy in there and do the traditional chicken sacrifice? (I never sleep my mac)

    Video/Photo Editing Build i7-6700k or i7-5820k

I went the 6700K route, overclocked to 4.5 GHz (it's not even warmer and unconditionally stable) and it kicks video editing and post production butt! I do note that while building a hackintosh almost everything you listed has a windows version. The only thing I'd change is I'd like to upgrade...

    Mac R9 280X or....

I have been trying to follow that guide for a little over a week now. Unfortunately, I have had no success. This is mostly because I don't understand a large part of the instructions. I'm fine with the low level hardware element of it (I understand device IDs and framebuffers, etc) but the guide...

    Mac R9 280X or....

I have a Skylake-based hackintosh. I tried to port my Mac Pro-s mac edition (Gigabyte) R9 280X across, but it's causing lots of problems of the white flash and hang 2/3rds into boot variety. Would it be easier to: a) spoon feed me through getting this card working b) go and buy a non-flashed...

    10.11.4+ Skylake Starter Guide

Success! I got it working by installing with my R9 280X removed from the system. Works great, especially after upgrading Clover - that fixed display driver issues and the half memory problem. My next step will be to add the Radeon R9 280X. It's from my previous Mac Pro. Will it being a mac...
