People are also confirming that OTG adaptors work too. They’re super cheap, 4 for under $10. Trying to find some usb a to a so I can just buy one for every usb 2 device.

Yeah, fully compatible, Corsair 64GB. Could just be interference from the WiFi to Bluetooth, will have to test with a wired mouse once USB problems are sorted.

I've noticed this too. My cursor also becomes very laggy. Realised it's when I'm downloading / uploading at higher speeds, goes back to normal once transfer speed is lower.

I've got everything going straight into the motherboard, haven't got the card yet. If there's no software fix soon it seems as though the card is the way to go though, to get the stability.

Yep, it would make sense wouldn't it. When I had my Prism Titan which is USB2 going into the USB 3, which is also feeding the connection of my modular through it's adat, so lot of power going on, that's when I was getting freezes every 10 mins. Soon as I put that and the iLok into the top two...

Yeah, I don't think we should need to though, with Macbook users experiencing the same thing, and other people with the same build as us (same mapping too), suggests maybe it's some of the peripherals we're using are either drawing a certain amount of power that is causing it to crash, or just...

Yeah, think they might be worth trying out. They're very cheap. Got me thinking that maybe the software is trying to reference ground from the wrong pin or something? With the bridge it can see / feed it, but without there's nothing on the pin, so it's freaking out. Not sure whether that's even...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thought I should post that some of the Macbook users who are experiencing the same USB problems are claiming that simple OTG adaptors are fixing it. Hesitant to believe there's such a cheap solution but thought I should add it here. The only difference with OTG adaptors is the ground is bridged...

@kellymac12 Would you mind posting shop links to the ones you're using? Think I'm going to take the plunge with these, Apple is apparently flat out denying it's a problem with MacBooks, so it's not looking great for a software fix :/

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Just thought I should mention on here, in another thread about real MacBooks users experiencing the same USB problems, the 10.15.6 beta is apparently not freezing. Hopefully it translates over to us. Correction - Sorry it's the Big Sur beta that's bringing stability, still not confirmed on...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

The inevitable has happened and I've had two freezes today. Haven't changed any devices. It's been stable for well over a month. First time, loaded a web page in Safari, the background image was a video, there was a graphical glitch and it froze. Second time, was rendering something out of...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I can't remember the boot arg, eventually I just removed the AppleGFXHDA.kext. Bit of a process on Catalina though, there were a few steps to keeping it gone.

Might be worth noting I have nothing in HS05 ,04, 03, or 06. Pretty sure when it was freezing I did. Not sure whether that's just coincidence.

Yeah, before I changed my platform id I removed the kext, still had the freezes. But, my platform id was wrong, so maybe the two in tandem is what's stabilised it? I say stabilised, feel like one rogue gust of wind and it's back to the fun and games...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Very true, I'm in the same boat. I've got a feeling though that this is software related. There's reports of real Mac users booting into Windows on their MacBooks, and the usb freezing no longer occurs. To be honest I very much hope it is, as we seem to be running in circles trying to figure it...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I know this might be a ridiculously long winded and annoying process, but have you tried plugging peripherals in one by one, testing for a bit, and hopefully narrowing down which one causes the crash? I haven't got any TB hub, but for whatever reason it's stable at the moment on all ports. The...

CPU Upgrade - Default Enhanced Multi-Core - Disabled X.M.P. - Auto Worth noting I've had these settings all along, even when I was getting freezing several times a day.

There's a thread, tried to link it above but it needs to be moderated so not showing. Search for "USB 2.0 issues on new MacBook Pro 13" 2020". Lot of people having the same problem, all on new MacBooks though. The fix... Thunderbolt hubs. Imagine this is something Apple will fix. Hopefully...
