I bought the card through amazon.
I also bought this for another rig I built for my editor and I found that the WiFi and Bluetooth on that card was really weak too. .. I don’t know if it’s just the cards or what but I have that YOUBO card coming on Saturday so I may swap it out on her rig.
It turns out that it was actually the card, itself after all!!!
I replaced it with the same exact one and sure enough, I had WiFi and Bluetooth with airdrop and everything. I can’t thank you enough. Do you do venmo or anything?
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say maybe it’s a bad card and I’ll just send it back for a replacement. The replacement will be here on Tuesday. It’s strange because I think it worked the very first time I installed it a few weeks back. But somewhere along the way it just stopped working.
I...
Ok i put the NVMEs back to original spots, took the two DIMMS as recommended, restarted and no wifi. I checked those reports and still the same...
Here's my IOregistry file
@CaseySJ I have all four DIMMS filled and I have a Samsung 860 laying around.
I’ll go and move the NVME back to its original spot and send reports back.
@CaseySJ So i attempted OPTION 1 and swapped the two SSD and rebooted everything. No wifi still but in the System reports, i have some new info that wasn't there previously. I've attached some screenshots
Hi again! Thanks for getting back to me.
I can try swapping the two NVME to opposite slots and see how that goes...
The wifi logo appears in the menu bar, but when i click "Turn on wifi" it tries, but then doesn't do anything. I have ethernet running so it just resorts back to that.
In the...
Im using the Samsung 970 SSD and not the plus. In the other build I used a different ssd and it works
I tried putting the card into a different slot but I only powered the unit off but didn’t switch the PSU off so I’ll try that next.
@CaseySJ Everything is working fine except for the wifi. Can't seem to get it to turn on. I have the Fenvi HB1200 card you suggested. I know it worked on my other build but it won't work in 10.15.6... i suspect it works in 10.15.5... Anything you suggest me looking into?
I understand. What I meant was on this second board, I read the chip 3 times and the checksums showed 3 different values. What do I need to do to fix this?
ok so onto board number two (I have two builds i'm working on that are almost identical...) but board number two gives me completely different checksums... how do i fix that?
On another note... I have the Fenvi HB1200 and bluetooth works fine, but for whatever reason, I cannot get wifi to work. I'm using ethernet on the board and i'm able to get internet. But because i don't have wifi, i cannot get airdrop to work.
uh... ok something went wrong afterwards. So everything worked until i restarted my computer and now it's not connecting anymore... any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?
@CaseySJ Thank you so much for this tutorial. I basically bought a bunch of different SOIC-8 clamps and i used the cheapest one but desoldered the one with the wires and then soldered those wires onto the cheap one and it finally worked!!! Thank you so much! Now i truly have a solid Hackintosh...
