[Guide] 10.11+ USB changes and solutions

Armed with a replacement USB 3 device, I've been able to get USB working perfectly on my Asus Z97-AR. For reference, in case anyone else is trying to get the same motherboard, the following was enough to get full USB 3 speeds and all ports working: XHCI set to 'smart auto' in UEFI firmware...

[GUIDE] Remove extra Clover BIOS boot entries & prevent further problems

This is fascinating – I've been trying to figure out why my system randomly develops boot problems on my ASUS Z97-AR motherboard, and I've recently come to the conclusion that the list of boot devices is growing without bounds, which eventually causes it to crash when entering the UEFI...

[Guide] 10.11+ USB changes and solutions

Turns out that when I plug my USB 3 test device into a real Mac with USB 3, it fails in the exact same way on 10.11.1, so this isn't a hackintosh problem! :banghead: When I plug in a different USB 3 device, it works fine on the ports that fit into the native limit, so all I need to do is sort...

[Guide] 10.11+ USB changes and solutions

That's the thing – there was a USB 3 device plugged in when I dumped that ioreg file. I'm assuming it has a lot to to with the repeated 'AppleUSB30XHCIPort::resetAndCreateDevice: failed to create device after (1) tries, disabling port' system.log entries, but I'm not sure where I'd start to...

[Guide] 10.11+ USB changes and solutions

I've attached both. The port-status for SSP1@14f00000 seemed to initially oscillate between 0, 0x1400, and 0xc00. At least once, it's actually managed to connect at USB 3 speeds after several minutes, but I didn't get an ioreg dump for that.

[Guide] 10.11+ USB changes and solutions

I've given the windows simulation SSDT a go, with no luck. I tried Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10, all with both Auto and Smart Auto set in the BIOS, but no dice. That doesn't seem to help. I've removed the USB port limit patch, since I still get SSP1 without it, which should be enough for...

Thanks for the hint. I've attached one from version 2.1 to this post.

[Guide] 10.11+ USB changes and solutions

Hello! Thanks for the guide -- I'm brand new to the whole hackintosh thing, and I feel like I've at least been able to make progress. I'm trying to get USB 3 working on an Asus Z97-AR motherboard (which, so far as I can tell, is basically identical to an Asus Z97-AR) using Clover as my boot...
