    First Attempt Yosemite - i7 4790K, ASUS Hero VII (Z97), ASUS STRIX GTX 970

    I'm not sure how important it is, but the ASUS Strix isn't listed on the buyers guide list. If it posts without your graphics card installed, then there's your error. Hopefully that won't be the case, but it has to be ruled out.

    Is Gigabyte still the preferred brand for motherboards?

    I'm a bit curious about this, and so far my searches on the interwebs have given vague answers. I know that Asus, MSI, Asrock etc is listed as compatible, but almost every build i see is with Gigabyte motherboards. Are they still better than the other brands despite all of them using a UEFI...

    Need some advice to avoid overkill

    Thanks for the input I had completely overlooked the 960 G1, that price saving will be nice, and as for resolution and details in games i usually opt for high resolution, and then add what effects the hardware can handle. I'l take your advice and pick the 4690k, It'l all add to the savings:)...

    I have a few questions as for what hardware to choose, because I have a tendency to go overkill.. This is what the machine will be used for: -OS X Multi tasking, i do a lot at once, web browsing, youtube, netflix, HD content fromn HDD, itunes etc.. -Occasional video encoding - adding blu ray...
