Can you share any more info on this? I'm now using El Capitan with a 4770K and another computer with 6700K. I would LOVE to upgrade my 280X to a 390X 8GB as the 3GB of RAM gets saturated quite quickly editing 4K video with FCX. I see that you use a 390X. Which brand of card and which one do you...
This GPU recently came out and its basically a 280X which many including myself are using in our hackintoshes, but with 4GB of RAM and updated features (for windows) like Mantle and Freesync support.
Has anyone used this card?
I did numerous Google searches and in this forum but can't find the answer. I used Multibeast with Clover (El Capitan) and selected "Inject ATI" to try out a new graphics card I bought (390X) that wouldn't work but the card still doesn't boot, and now I can't boot with my 280X that worked...
I bought a 390X 8GB. Would you be able to help me get it running? I would really appreciate it!! So far I'm only getting a black screen with El Capitan using Clover. My 280X works well.
MY 3GB cards are actually XFX's not MSI (the 6GB that doesn't work is MSI)
This is the exact card that I bought 2 of http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FSC5N66/?tag=tonymacx86com-20
To finish off the original topic, I did a install of El Capitan on a new SSD with my same hardware using unibeast>Clover>Multibeast. The install was super simple and didn't need any extra modifications.
With clover I was able to disable integrated graphics and boot with my 280X/s perfectly. A...
To finish off this thread I want to say that I upgraded to El Capitan using mulibeast+Clover and its definitely an improvement. My Dual 3GB XFX 280X's work awesome with integrated graphics disabled, and a single card works well with integrated graphic enabled which allows quick sync in FCX for...
I should have been more specific. I meant to say that in my testing, with my installation with FCX and IGFX enabled FCX was slower with Dual GPU's than Single (280x 3GB). I do know its faster with dual GPU's. I owned a 6core dual D700 nMP. That's why in my other thread I'm asking how to get dual...
With IGFX enabled, and a single XFX 280X 3GB gpu the speeds were awesome! and single pass encoding using intel Quicksync h.264 was working as well. (about 2-3x faster h.264 encoding compared to CPU encoding) So I figured dual 280X would work as well but I guess FCX doesn't like it...
Thanks for the Reply Rob. I actually have 2 XFX 3GB 280X's , and 1 MSI 280X 6GB. I got the 2x XFX cards running together but the speeds were actually slower than a single card (probably because integrated graphics enabled), so I decided to buy a 6GB single card and use that instead.
I'm going...
Thank you for your reply! I just downloaded El Capitan and have a few questions before I install.
Did you use the Mulibeast setup for El Capitan? Do you have your integrated graphics enabled or disabled? And does your card show up at 7xxx 3GB or something else?
I'm excited to get it running...
Thank you Rob for your reply!
I'm using multibeast. My 280X (both 3GB and 6GB) lead to garbled text if I disable integrated graphics. I can boot with both of them just fine and use the system If I have integrated graphics enabled and have IGFX set as boot gpu. With my 280X plugged in it's...
WOW! I'm downloading El Capitan as we speak.
I noticed before the install instructions used clover, now its switched to the newest version of Multibeast. Which installer are you using? My 280X show up as 7xxx 3GB in Yosemite. Is that was showed up in your previous Yosemite as well? and does it...
I moved my boot to EFI. I was wondering do I need to select "integrated graphics=No" to boot from 280X with integrated graphics disabled in the Bios? I'm still getting garbled code unless I have integrated graphics on like I did before, but I noticed in my boot.plist Integrated graphics is enabled.

I followed the steps exactly but I still get garbled text if I disable the intergrated graphics and boot with the 280X. Is there a way to know for certain that the EFI partition works?
Thanks! I leant out my USB with Yosemite and Multibeats, Downloading Yosemite again to make a USB then I will try to do the EFI. Hopefully it should fix 2 of my problems :) (using 6GB 280X and using dual 280X 3GB)
