Unfortunately, the SAS ports are not usable. I don't believe there are drivers (kexts) for them on the chipset for this motherboard.. I have the same board and everything I have read says that its not possible... Sorry.....

and saving the file directly has the same dog mounting issues, which i assume is the whole reason you can't update from the preferences pane to begin with....

I too am having the same issues.... and the direct download can't be mounted... Apparently an unmountable file system for the dmg.
