Im using the same patch and seeing the same symptoms on my Elitebook 840 G6.
SMCBatteryManager works better for me then ACPIBatteryManger.kext, because with ACPIBM my power cable plug/unplug doesn't get detected.
Please if anybody find a fix, better patch or else, please please post here...
@RehabMan so to confirm:
1)Clean install High Sierra (AFS):
SATA-RAID-Unsupported.kext doesnt work to boot OSX bootdrive when bios in (intel) RAID mode, AHCI works.
2)Clean install Sierra, update to High Sierra (avoiding conversion to AFS, staying on HFS+) :

It was working on High Sierra on HFS+
Not working on clean High Sierra on AFS
Im going to clean install Sierra, upgrade to HighSierra (without AFS) and let you know the results.
Maybe afs is the reason it doesnt work anymore for me and @archvile

After I updated my Sierra to HSierra skipping conversion to AFS this kext worked for me great, now after new (clean) install it doesnt work at all..I tried a million things..Maybe the problem is in AFS...
