[Success] Overclockable silent i7700k + GTX 1060 - Passive PSU

Just checked the benchmarks of the water cooling vs my current fan. The fan actually cools better. So I'm sticking with that one. The liquid metal doesn't seem to do much either, unless you use it inside the delidded heat spreader.

[Success] Overclockable silent i7700k + GTX 1060 - Passive PSU

I used the Noctua one. Which is not ideal. 41dB for the fans including the pump?

[Success] Overclockable silent i7700k + GTX 1060 - Passive PSU

Yes and no. At normal operation the case & CPU fans run at 500rpm, which is lower than the background sounds in my house. Perfect. However my CPU is not cooling correctly due to Intel's crappy heat spreader. My cooling system is quite cool, but the CPU die can get quite hot. Since the intel...

[Success] Overclockable silent i7700k + GTX 1060 - Passive PSU

I don't feel confident enough to advice one over the other. Only thing I can say is that the configuration I used works great. Any specific hardware compatibility questions might be better asked in the hardware forum.

Most Silent Graphics Card GFX 1050 (Ti)

Tough one. However, while not pushing them to the max they usually are all silent, because the fans don't spin. But if you need a bit of GPU power and don't want the noise, you can also consider getting a more powerful card. Let's say you need 100% of a 1050 GPU power. That would mean it would...

[Success] Overclockable silent i7700k + GTX 1060 - Passive PSU

Update time. I've finished building the desktop. Ran Mac OS installer without any issues. Did have some issues with audio, fixing that now. [edit: Audio is working] At normal usage it's near silent, CPU runs at 29C. The M.2 NVME drive benchmarks at 1800MB writes and 2700MB reads. Which...

I'm having the audio issue with this setup as well. 1) When using Multibeast and selecting ALC1220 I don't see any audio outputs. (ran it multiple times). 2) When selecting ALC1220A (Which, according to ASUS, this board has) I DO see the audio outputs. - When plugging in my headphone it is...

[Success] Overclockable silent i7700k + GTX 1060 - Passive PSU

Thanks so much for your detailed reply. I decided on the Define S case because of price and acoustics. In benchmarks it showed acceptable thermal performance. The front panel can actually be opened, since it is a door. So when needed additional air intake can be applied. For example this can be...

[Success] Overclockable silent i7700k + GTX 1060 - Passive PSU

Hi, I'm building a new Hackintosh next week and have compiled a list of parts. I would love to hear your feedback. My goal with the build is to create a extremely silent desktop (passive PSU cooling, very quiet and big CPU cooling, no rotating drives, GPU is silent in indle). My secondary goal...
