Need help installing Ventura on Asus z390-p i7-9700 iGPU graphics

Hey @dudaah mind sharing your EFI and walking through steps to get iGPU working? I’m on z390-a with 9700k but hoping our builds are close enough.

Yes, a quick google shows your scores are in line with a 9900k

It takes 4 minutes for mine to boot up. Will look at the OC update and see if that help or something. Strange thing, I installed Ventura on a new bigger drive, and when I mount it for efi, it don't have the oc folder etc. so maybe I am still booting from my big sur OC or something. I can still boot into the old drive with Big Sur as well. Hmm.

@Douirc I used the EFI from previous users.

Regarding iGpu, I looked at an old post by modmike and haven't really changed anything in bios since then. In Bios:

  1. Advanced Items > System Agent (SA) Graphics Configuration > Primary Display > PEG for DGPU, CPU for IGPU
  2. Advanced Items > System Agent (SA) Graphics Configuration > IGPU Multi-Monitor > Enabled for DGPU, Disabled for IGPU

Long boot time could be caused by a somewhat incompatible storage device. The controller on some NVMe SSDs has a problem with the TRIM function. This is covered elsewhere on tonymac as well as on GitHub. Recommended SSD brands/models compatible with MacOS are also given elsewhere. (I am using Western Digital WD SN850X 1 TB for booting, and Samsung 970 Pro 1 TB just for data storage on my Hacks. Boot time is around 19 seconds for the WD but around 59 secs for Samsung.)

@wstrohm I might remove the old m2. one where big sur is and try a reinstall of ventura and see what happens. the new drive is a crucial mx normal ssd so maybe they collide.

the big sur boot is within 30 seconds so a bit weird. oh well

Have anyone of you tried to install this fresh on a blank drive? I have created two usb sticks, one with your EFI on it only and one with my old EFI but are having trouble booting from them? It just reboots into my bios again? Any ideas or how did you solve this?

@wstrohm well basically I selected the usb drive(s) in bios as boot media and saved and exited and it bootet back into bios again, like it didn't like them or something.

But never mind, when I messed with the build, all of a sudden my fans spun up and my processor got hot, like the water cooling stopped working or something so I gave up for now and bought an older 2020 macbook so I went legit for now :)
