Hello,

is there a way to get a HD 7770 working in Mojave? These are my specs and settings:

- System: Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H, Core i7 3770K
- Model: Sapphire HD 7770 1 GB, ID 683d
- Gfx outputs: DVI (primary monitor), HDMI (Wacom Cintiq), Mini-Displayport (Projector, with active HDMI-adaptor)
- Intel HD4000 is actually disabled, but can be used on DVI
- Actual OS: Mavericks on Clover (Legacy BIOS), everything works, also all monitor outputs
- No Windows or Linux installed

- Mojave kexts: VirtualSMC, Lilu, WhateverGreen, SMCRadeonGPU
- All kexts are in /System/Library/Extensions
- OSx86 kexts in Clover and /System/Library removed

- Clover bootargs: radpg=15, -lilubetaall
- Clover graphics: Dashimaki, Inject ATI off (on makes no difference)
- no custom EDID string (was not neccessary yet)
- SMBIOS: iMac13,2, also tested iMac14,2

Results:

Using 10.14 AMD7000Controller.kext black screen with partial white flickering on DVI output every few seconds
DVI has to be the primary output because the monitor has 2560x1600 resolution
Using 10.13 AMD7000Controller.kext detected as HD 7770 7 MB RAM, mirrored display, fast graphics
AMDSupport.kext is loaded, but no other AMD graphics kext
ATY_init.kext is loaded, AMDVerde.kexts only adds device ID's, not loaded

Patching attempts:

IOAccelerator2D.plugin and IOAcceleratorFamily2.kext rollback from 10.12 no change
com.apple.driver.AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy is patched
CAIL_DisableGfxCGPowerGating=1 in AMDRadeonX4000.kext no effect
Tested nearly all framebuffers in Clover options input (not saved in config)

Once I had it working detected as 7xxx series 1 GB, but it was rather slow.
The card is already detected as 7770, and the 7 MB problem happens so often, there has to be a solution.

Has anybody an idea which I can try? Everything else is working in Mojave.
I have enough OSx86 experience, but I'm not up to date. I'm planning to switch to OpenCore after Mojave is working.

Greets,

naquaada.

The cause is that the GPU is not UEFI compatible.
Search for "GOP updater" (I don't know what GOP stands for) and modify the GPU to make it compatible with UEFI, or use OpenCore as it seems to support GOP (unconfirmed).

I'm using Legacy BIOS because my other systems don't have UEFI.

I don't know about Dell's response, please read the guide below and ask questions in the guide.
