macOS 14.4 Update

Success after 1/2 day lost, OC 0.9.8 read that I needed to apply RestrictEvents.kext with bootargs revpatch=sbvmm and temporarily disabled SecureBoot for OTA update to 14.4. I didn't think I'd need force VMM SB model as my SMBIOS iMacPro1,1 official supported for Sonoma.

Unfortunately not smooth.

Had to clear NVRAM for the update to take effect, otherwise it would apply with no errors but stay on 14.3.2.

Once I clear the NVRAM I encountered "denied" the error as others have indicated which required me to temporarily set SecureBootModel to Disabled for the update to complete. Hopefully this is not something new required for each future update.

I am also running Intel Wireless with AirportItlwm and this resulted in the update failing halfway through with a kernel panic as I was using the Alpha release for Sonoma 14.3.

Once I updated the kext to the latest Alpha release for Sonoma 14.4 from the IntelWireless project website the update worked.

Thank you very much! Works like a charm after replacing "IOSkywalkFamily.kext", revert to root and then re-apply the patches.
Same here! Thanks a lot for this post! It fixed my issue with the wifi :)

Full details: I updated to Sonoma 14.4, installed OLCP 1.4.1, however not Fenvi wifi working (as it did on 14.3 + OCLP 1.4.0).

I had to update the IOSkywalkFamily.kext to the version 1.1.0, compatible with Sonoma 14.4.

Aside of that, I had already the IO80211FamilyLegacy in extensions, which contains AirPortBrcmNIC.kext and is referenced by:

<key>Arch</key>
<string>Any</string>
<key>BundlePath</key>
<string>IO80211FamilyLegacy.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortBrcmNIC.kext</string>

Successfully Updated from MacOS 14.3.1 to 14.4.
Booting via OpenCore 0.9.8 with the latest kexts.

IMPORTANT: You must set SecureBootModel in your OC config.plist to disabled before starting the 14.4 update, without this change the updater / installer will crash and the update will fail to install. Once the update is complete you can set SecureBootModel back to what is was before,

At just over 2GB the incremental update file is a fair bit bigger compared to recent Sonoma Updates, however this update includes over 64 Bug fixes, some pointless new features and a major update to messages which introduces PQ3 protection (future proof against Quantum decryption).

This update is causing a lot of issues to real macs and even my hack. I couldn't even boot my hackintosh, but after several hours tinkering around I updated IOSkywalkFamily.kext to version 1.1.0 and after more tinkering I was finally able to get it to work and boot again.
So, definitely do a backup. My recommendation is to wait for the next update and sit this one out.

Unfortunately I'm having a lot of troubles updating from 14.3.1 to 14.4 on OC0.9.8. First it took a lot of reboots while and the loading bar (on the black screen) went very slow.

Now the loading bar and installation seems done, but when I then entered my password an hit enter, the system is freezing.

Before this update process, the system was working like a charm. Not sure what to do, but I guess I will ask discuss that in another topic.
