How are you measuring this relative brightness?

Eye... on the attached screenshots, you can see the Clover boot screen and also a Windows screen brighter than the other 2 from High Sierra (the brightness bar is on Max)

You will find your brightness keys are handled in _Q63 and _Q64...
But they may not get called due to your not patching ACPI correctly...
You have no accommodation for _OSI("Darwin")... see ACPI patching guide regarding "OS Check Fix" patches.

Sorry my stupid question, I didn't understand when you say that I have no accommodation for _OSI. Is this an error that I made, or my system doesn't support that?

Thanks again

EDID issue perhaps...??? You seem to be injecting a custom EDID. Make sure it is correct...

No "OS Check Fix" patch applied to your DSDT.
Read the ACPI patching guide.

Sorry again for the stupid question, but would the screen works even if the EDID was incorrect?

No "OS Check Fix" patch applied to your DSDT.
Read the ACPI patching guide.

After this applied, do I have to patch the DSDT again?

I will try to pull the EDID again and confirm. Post the result later tonight.

Thanks,

Yes... It might still work, even if something is wrong with EDID.

I don't know what you're asking...
You should clarify your question.

Hello RehabMan,

So, I've followed this guide to extract the EDID: EDID injection guide
and the results are still the same. I also tried to work with the machine without injecting the EDID, but in this case the built in screen doesn't work.

I also applied the brightness keys you've mentioned in earlier posts and after that I applied the OS Check Fix (from the MacIASL repo), but still no different results. When I asked if I had to patch the DSDT file again was regarding the OS Fix. Like, do you think would be better to extract a new DSDT file and start over?

Thanks once again.

Regards,

Gustavo

As per ioreg, brightness controls look ok.
You need to check your kernel logs to see which keys are used for brightness (older computers may use PS2, not ACPI for such keys).
Samsung computers are known to have issues with the display as they often use eDP. You should check in Windows.

Hi RehabMan,
I may try to install Sierra to test.
I read in the past about the Samsung displays... the only that tricks me is that worked really fine on Mavericks and when testing Sierra I had the max peak on the brightness but had no control.

Thanks again for your time on this issue. If I can´t make it work I will post results since it can help others.

Regards,

Gustavo.

As I suggested, you should check in Windows to see if your internal display is connected via eDP.

It's a LVDS connection.
