"HID Legacy shim 2" freeze - boot disk SATA vs USB on Z270x UD5

I have since discovered that the reason I was able to actually get to the installer was because I was using an older version of Sierrra. Version 10.12.6 is a nightmare. You know, when I first started this endeavor, the FIRST time I attempted this install I was able to get to the installer and actually install Sierra. I ran multibeast and then rebooted, not knowing I needed to do some edits in config.plist. I couldn't boot from hard drive so I just started over to avoid any mishaps. Ever since then I've had absolute 0 success even getting to the installer. I've tried the newest version of Clover and the one that comes with Unibeast. Each hang at different spots during boot but not much different. The older version get's passed one line where the newer one hangs. We need help!! My wife and kids miss me!
 
Our builds are similar enough I think. I have a GTX 1050 but I don't have it currently installed. I figured internal graphics would be easier to get going and then I can work on the discrete. Doesn't matter anyway. My problem is the same whether it's with the graphics card or not.

Hahaahah!
Have you tried the High Sierra beta? It's GM now which means you'll probably have to do a full install to jump to final but it should be pretty much done... I need to order some more hard drives before I try it because I have been living with windows on my SSD but no other drives laying around anymore...

I have not tried High Sierra. As far as a full install, I'm trying to do that now so that wouldn't bother me one bit.
 
Fun times. Did anyone ever figure this out?

I'm trying to install Catalina and may be running into a similar issue. I'm trying to run the SSD with the installer via SATA on the motherboard and it locks up after

HID: Legacy shim 2

HID: Legacy shim 2

Guess I might look for one of the SATA<->USB dongles or docks and see if that helps.....
