Continuity and Handoff Capable Apple Mini Cards + PCIe and mini-PCIe Adapters

Anyone who have tried one of these (Seller claims native support in OS X):

As the current combo I have (Real iMac card + adapter) causes KP after sleep (I suspect that I got a faulty card (The white part of the card has some blue color on it and I suspect that it was discarded for some reason), and I don't really want to play the roulette again).

anybody with sierra and 'Allow your Apple Watch to unlock your mac' working?

I basically need a Bluetooth 4 USB dongle, and before I buy one I just REALLY want to know it works for the function that I want, unlocking the computer with my watch.

Thanks!

I just got my Apple Watch Series 2 today, and the one linked in my other post unlocks my hack just fine. (Just tested it).

Can you please tell me which Bluetooth card you have?

What about WiFi?

I am running Sierra and have the following recommended Wifi/Bluetooth card:

Airdrop is not working and Bluetooth PAN is not on and Bluetooth File Transfer, Bluetooth File Exchange and Bluetooth Internet Sharing are all disabled per the attached photos.

Does anyone have suggestions? I noticed that the mac address on the wifi starts with 88:63 but on the bluetooth starts with 00-1B which I believe is incorrect, but have not found any solution on how to change it if necessary?

Was this working in El Capitan?

Were Handoff and Continuity working?

Same as this quoted post, Wifi works, but is very unstable after sleep (Handoff and Airdrop works fine after sleep), may be fixable by disabling WoL but i haven't tried.

That is incorrect, I have the same card and have the following for WiFi/BT (But may not be a problem):
Code:
88:63:DF:XX:XX:X1 (Wifi)
88:63:DF:XX:XX:X2 (Bluetooth)
Do you have Windows installed? If you have, you could use that to check if it is something wierd with your OSX install.
If not then you could try resetting networking and if that does not work you could try reinstalling.

It could also just be Airdrop being wierd, it has a habit of being just that, as you pictures tells that Handoff works, which should only happen if you have the right wifi/BT combo.

Does Handoff work?

Yosemite's new Handoff and Continuity features are pretty amazing. This includes making phone calls, picking up where you left off in apps on other Apple devices seamlessly. Unfortunately even the latest USB Bluetooth 4.0 dongles aren't working at all with this feature. Fortunately there are solutions available that make these features work 100%.

The best way to get Handoff and Continuity features activated is using a native Apple mini networking card from a real 2013/2014 Mac with a specially modified PCIe or mini-PCIe Adapter. I've put a few of these together, and confirm that they work really well. Check out my album below:

The first one I made was using an older MacBook Air card with the PCIe adapter. It connects both to PCIe slot and to USB hub on the motherboard. The MacBook card only had 2 antenna pins which were too small and too few for the 4 antenna PCIe adapter. I ended up ordering a iMac card which fit perfectly with PCIe adapter's 4 antenna pins. Both cards work fine with the mini-PCIe adapter as well- however you need to make sure your motherboard (I used an ITX with built in mini-PCIe slot) is fully bluetooth powered. If I were to do it again, I'd get the iMac card first, but both cards are identical Broadcom chipsets.

The following screenshots show how the card shows up on a CustoMac. It's a fully native Broadcom BCM43xx wifi with BRCM20702 Bluetooth USB hub.

View attachment 112144You can find the adapters and cards readily available on Amazon or eBay, usually shipping from China. This method provides the best cost savings- I was able to make a full unit for under $50. In addition the website osxwifi.com sells the full package- no assembly required. This method costs extra because of the convenience and assurance that the right parts are ordered.

Continuity Activation Tool is an open source script to get Continuity working with some older Macs built in Bluetooth module- this could also work with some Bluetooth 3.0 cards. Check out Github for the latest download of Continuity Activation Tool. Unfortunately this doesn't enable 3rd party USB Bluetooth devices though such as the IOGear Bluetooth dongle. EDIT: Continuity Activation Tool 2.0 works with some Bluetooth 4.0 USB dongles.

If you've ordered or enabled a specific card or adapter, this thread is to list all working and functional WIFI/BT adapters which work with Handoff and Continuity features in OS X Yosemite.

Please provide as much detail as possible including model numbers, photos, and screenshots when listing your card and adapter. Thanks!

If Continuity Activation Tools tells me my WIFI is not supported
Should I try to run the tool anyway?

I want to use Apple Watch unlock

My airdrop works and the CAT lists continuity as "Active," and my settings have enabled handoff on iPhone and Hackintosh, yet I'm still not seeing those handoff or universal clipboard or apple watch login features.

Is there another step AFTER running CAT to ensure continuity is active?

Hi, I bought this wifi card from Aliexpress. Wifi is working very well, but I have a problem with bluetooth: I can detect any device and add it (like my iPhone SE or my mom's iPhone) but the bluetooth association end with a incompatible device message. I don't know if it could be a hardware problem or sofwtare (but even in system report shows information of the bluetooth and wifi). See attached.
I hope that anyone could guide me.

Two questions...

1. Does the IOGEAR bluetooth dongle work for handoff? And if so, how?
2. The computer I'm trying to enable bluetooth on has only one slot and it is a PCIe x16 slot. I understand that any card that will work has to have a 4 wire connection to the MB for Bluetooth to work. Are there any available in the states?

No. Recommend getting a official apple card. Which motherboard do you have?
