Every once in a while (a few times a day) the internet on my Hackintosh disconnects. This is a problem that I would like to be adressed as soon as possible, because I run a Minecraft Server, and this is affecting that. I was thinking it could be a problem with my WiFi card, the TP-Link TL-WDN4800. I did just get a new TP-Link router too, the TL-WR1043ND. Either of these could be the culprit. It could be the router because I just bought it has been a bumpy road for the few days I have had it. It could be the wifi card because I was having problems with it and my old router, which was dying, so I bought the new one.

The Wifi doesn't disconnect, it still says it connected. When I go into the Network Diagnostics, there are green lights for Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi settings, and Network Settings, but there are yellow lights for ISP, Internet, and Server. Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: Forgot to add: When I click continue in the Network Diagnostics to select my wifi network, it makes all the lights green and fixes itself.

It just happened again today, when Caffeine was on (prevents sleep), and I tried to access the computer remotely via LogMeIn. LogMeIn said it was offline. So when I got home, in the menubar there was an exclamation point over the wifi icon. Again, a quick open of the Network Diagnostics window, and I was back in business. This is really annoying, so any help is appreciated! :banghead:

First why use hackintosh as an server if minecraft java can easily run on any kind of distro that gives you less issues and more reliability and stability.
I would understand if it was a mac server application of some sort, but minecraft?

Second, please tell us if other devices in your network are having the same issues. Might be your local ip expiring, try giving your mac a permanent IP on the network.
You should already kinda know your way if you're hosting a minecraft server and forwarding ports.

Try the card in other computers windows based, and just an advise would be to not let a server run on WiFi for several issues and reasons.
And if your still searching a bit it might be more expensive to run it from home with electrical bills etc then to let someone else host it, Virtual private servers are very cheap these days.

I have recently stopped running the server due to lack of interest, but the problem has become more persistent. Now, even when I'm using the computer, the Internet will randomly become unavailable. This isn't and hasn't been a problem with any other devices connected to the network, so I'm pretty sure it's a Hackintosh thing. I've seen other posts about similar problems with the TP-Link card, so it's not just me. I hope that someone can help.

That information is in the first post. I have not installed any kexts for it. I would put in in another PCI express slot, but the only other ones that are available are the larger PCI Express slots, and this card (the TL-WDN4800) is a smaller PCI express card. Is it possible to put in in a bigger slot?

EDIT: after some research it looks like I can put it in the larger slot. I'll try that and report back.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, bothering me for months. Did you find a solution yet?

I have not found a solution, but it's good to know that I'm not the only one. What are your hardware specs? Oh, and BTW, welcome to the forums!

I'm having the same issue.

Internet works fine until I try pushing a lot of traffic by downloading something big (1GB+) and then it goes away. Its strange because its just my external access to the internet that goes. Its not a DNS issue because I can't even ping google's DNS server (8.8.8.8). What's really strange is that the other computers on my network can access the web just fine. Plus, I my OSx86 can communicate with hosts inside my network perfectly. The Plex media server I run on it works great, I can also VNC into the box.

This is really vexing me. I don't know what would kill internet access but not local traffic only and limit its effects to just one host.
