HI,
I have a functioning Tp-link wn881nd in my hackintosh. It works fine on the windows side and will see and connect to non protected networks on the MAc side but every time i try and connect to a protected network, like my home router, it will say." Connection failed". I had to load the IO8021Family.kext to get it this far but don't what to do now. Im on OS 10.8.4 currently. Please help and thanks

Did you manage by now?
TP-WN881ND accept connection with WPA2?

You should use original IO80211Family.kext (which comes with the OSX) and only add TP-WN881ND ID "30a4" to plist in here:

/System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AirPortAtheros40.kext/Contents/Info.plist

After you modified your IO80211Family.kext you should reinstall it using Kext Utility and restart computer.

Thanks i'll try this.

I have the same card working in ML, I installed this kext and am still getting "connection failed". Where exactly in the plist do you inject the device id? i'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that....

Thanks!

Ive tried all kexts mentioned in this thread, and can still not get this to work, can someone do a step by step of exactly what to do? maybe I'm missing something....

thanks

tom

Hey guys I have the same card TP-WN881ND in Mountain Lion 10.8.5 however my system info does not recognize a PCI card nor do I see it in the Networks/Wifi info. Just wanted to double check if this is the initial problem everyone else has, i tried reseating the card but ML still does not recognize the card.

Ill try installing the kext stated in the below emails, but will this allow the card to be recognized

The kext I linked in my post above worked for me on both ML and Maverick.

I have installed it with KextBeast and works just fine.

Put this kext on the Desktop
Run KextBeast
Be patient, it will take some time to install.
Then (I think) rebooted the machine.

It recognised my wifi and was able to connect to protected networks too.
