I'm trying to install Mountain Lion on my desktop.
Desktop setup:
Intel Workstation S5520sc motherboard
Intel E5645 CPU
3 x 4GB Kingston 1333 Mhz DDR3 ECC memory
Gigabyte Geforce GT610 (1 GB of memory)
Cosair SSD Force GT 120 GB
I have been able to successful create the bootable USB drive with Mountain Lion downloaded from the Mac App store (I had access to another mac).
I can get to the boot menu ... and I can select the mountain lion partition ...
The grey screen with the apple icon displays, and then suddenly .... I get a message to restart my computer:. You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again.
I found that if I boot in safe mode (by typing -x in the boot menu) ... I can get to the OS X desktop.
How do I get my installation to work properly? I.e., how do I get it to recognise the operating system without having to use the USB drive.
