For future readers: I'm a terminal noob, and apparently you MUST edit this file within terminal using the 1980s-style editor vim. This site helped me slog through that task:

Thanks so much for the awesome tip on hiding windows...
I did that, and managed to solve the majority of my issues. I updated it with the solutions. Maybe the thread will be useful to others. Thanks for the idea.
I successfully did a fresh install of Mojave on another SSD, everything was working perfectly for a couple weeks. And then seemingly out of nowhere, I was getting a problem where the computer would auto sleep and spin down but then constantly keep spinning up the fans and seemed to wake up...
Update: I never solved this problem. And through a fluke diagnosed it. It's my Razer mouse. When it's plugged in when booting this problem happens. When it's unplugged during boot, everything works perfectly. Weird. Haven't been able to fix it. But just thought I'd update in case anyone is going...

Are you mounting the hidden EFI drive? Perhaps they were in an older folder (maybe 10.10?). I'm a relative noob, but perhaps you made the system definition wrong, which is why About this Mac isn't working? I know I had to change my system definition when I upgraded to Sierra.
Hi I was wondering if you could help. Here is error report
Motherboard-audio (back of case) works fine, occasionally doesn't work after sleep but fine 99% of time. Front panel audio doesn't work. In System preferences, when i plug mic or headphones in, nothing happens. Front panel works in...
Just some help for noobs like me.
When it says "Copy FakeSMC.kext and any other extra necessary kexts to /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/"
What this really meant for me is "copy all (at least for my setup) kexts from /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11" to that folder. For me, I kept trying to find these kexts...
