Sorry for the late reply but thanks @defbref! I had trouble updating so now I'm not starting the process of getting everything working after starting over from scratch. At least now I can see what's going on ;P
Hey Guys!
It's been forever since I've been able to make it on to the boards but I've recently hit a wall and need some help. Here's my problem as short as possible but with enough background:
I went to work one day and everything was fine. I came back home and my computer was off and...
@agoo
After consulting with some other people on here I realized that what was causing me to get hung up on the black screen was that I had my usb hub plugged into the back while booting.
As soon as I unplugged the hub and rebooted it's worked like a charm. Now when I need to restart or...
It should come as no surprise that Lnx2Mac helped me out with this one ;)
As it turns out I had forgotten about the flash drive plugged into the back of my tower, so when I was rebooting the HDD was looking for boot info on the flash drive. Once I figured that out I've been able to boot...
@ Alexwx86: By any chance do you have any external drives or any USB storage devices plugged in during your boot process? I don't mean to insult; I'm just offering the suggestion because I personally spent hours going crazy over black screens and failed boots when it turns out that having my...
Well the good news is I successfully updated to 10.6.4 with no problems at all.
The bad news is that the mic still breaks the screensaver, and despite what I previously thought I'm still not able to make my back up HDD bootable with Multibeast.
If I did switch DSDT files is there any risk...
Thanks for replying guys. Sorry it took so long for me to do the same. I'm currently running F10 for BIOS.
As for updating to 10.6.4 I was hesitant to do so because up until the latest release of MultiBeast I was unable to load it on my back up drive rendering it unbootable. Now that I've...
Hey guys. Just giving this a bump to see if anyone might be able to help me out with this. What might also be notable is that when I'm using the OS voice recognition it doesn't seem to register my voice in the little input bars at the bottom of the GUI.
I'm pretty stumped by the whole thing.
I recently bought a $25 Dynex USB mic for voice recognition and audio recording. Everything worked great except that after using it the screensaver wouldn't initialize anymore. I rebooted to test another mic I had as a line in mic (which it detected as the internal mic) but that had the same...
For a time I was able to successfully boot into my system with the iBoot CD. Then I ran userDSDT and could boot from the HDD and everything was great for awhile. However, now for some reason if I reboot I get stuck on a blank page with a blinking cursor right after "Loading Operating System"...
I'm having the same problem. I actually got it past this point once. Then I had to restart and now I can't get back in again. Not even using the iBoot disc.
I have no idea what to do next. :(
My drives now show up correctly as well. This method is purely a cosmetic way to go about getting the drives to show up correctly but it's also the least invasive. Thanks to Lnx2Mac and MacMan for figuring this out for everybody.
Here's the post to get your icons looking right as rain in a...
Alrighty, now my "About This Mac" is displaying correctly as well. The RAM whas showing up correctly ever since running UserDSDT Multibeast as suggested by MacMan, however it was still reading as me having a Xeon when I have an i7.
In order to fix that all I did was follow MacMan's...
After installing using MultiBeast with UserDSDT and double checking with the above linked post (thanks again jimx86 ;) ) I can now successfully put the computer to sleep as well as wake it with USB devices! Knock'em down one thing at a time. :)
