First, I am sorry if this has been covered already trust me I have searched. My power button and led are straight wired into my mobo and are working perfectly.
I am now wanting to get the usb ports working (could care less about firewire/3.5mm at this point). Early 08 Mac Pro Front Panel
Do I...
just wanted to say I love my msi r6870. I just replaced my 9800gtx and this card was simply plug and play on 10.7.2 :headbang: Great upgrade, does anyone have any advice on overlocking the card? If I over clock in windows will it help in osx or should I flash it somehow? Thanks in advance.
I am curious if you set ge to yes or no as well. I just ordered my msi 6870 and I am replacing a 9800gtx so it is currently set to yes. Any other suggestions when replacing. Im using custom dsdt on p35-ds4 gigabyte board running 10.7.2. Thank in advance!
Thank you so much for posting this information. I am on the verge of buying a 6870. Is there anyway you could provide a link to amazon that you ended up with? Also do you have a monitor that has mini display port. I also want to get a 27' apple cinema display to put the icing on the cake of my...
I give you all the advice I can and then post some pics sometime tomorrow when I have them here at work. My case was a mac pro early 2008 so that's all I can give advice about. Not sure if they vary.
First you have to clip off the small connecter that the 3 wires coming from the power button go...
GOT IT! :headbang: Thank you so much for your help, not sure if it would help anyone else out if I posted pics, but I will if anyone wants them. I individually heat shrank the wires and then used a bigger size heat shrink to put them all together. Everything seems nice and sturdy!
Update: The power button DOES give a 0hm reading when pressing the button :headbang: its hard having 3 hands.
I however think I am on the hardest part. Any tips on getting this god forsaken C clamp in to hold the pcb in place?
Update on my power button:
Resoldering the connections was a nightmare. I would only recommend trying it if you have a very fine tipped solder iron, the patience of Job, and a shot of jack daniels  (I didnt have the fine tip or the patience).
I ordered a new button and very carefully...
Ok thanks again, I am sorry I am such a noob but I guess we all have to start somewhere. Do you think I could solder the wire back or just buy a whole new button? I have soldered before but only a couple times. Guess its worth a shot?
Your right it is only 3 wires and they are labeled just as yours are. I did however manage to completely screw up  I was carful to cut off the small connector and barely strip the wires.
I have a digital multimeter and tried to get a 0 ohm reading when pressing the power button...
Please excuse me for my noobness. I do have a multimeter from working on old arcade machines. Should I clip off the small connector of the power button, strip the wires, and twist two of them together until i find the right combo that gets a 0 ohms reading? Will I even get a reading with no...
I bought and early 2008 mac pro case. I am putting in a gigabyte p35-ds4 (yes the dremmel and jb weld has been used  )
Anyway the case I got only has the power button with no front panel logic board. The button does have four wires that go to a very small connector.
Am I going to...
Ok so the title pretty much says it all. I am wanting to get the 27' Led Thunderbolt display. I am running 10.7 Lion on a gigabyte ga-p35pds4.
What would be the best card I could get that would work with that display? I was thinking a xfx 6870?
Thanks in advance
