970 EVO Plus, 1TB. That's all. My prior SSD has been removed. (It, too, is a 970 EVO Plus, but 2TB).
Also, I did the config.plist that you suggested (from your EFI rather than HackinDROM) and got the same result -- lock on the line after bridges 7, devices 14.
Yes. I reset the BIOS settings again to give it another kick and it got a few more lines further. It seems to have settled at the spot in this screen shot. That last line can vary, but it's always the line after "bridges 7, device 14 ]"
Thanks for the assist. I thought I was taking that guide out of the picture by using a new SSD and removing the prior SSD from the system. I don't have anything to transition that way, and there is nothing legacy to get in the way.
At least, that was my plan -- I wanted a clean install, not an...
Hardware for this is as listed for Timequake in my profile.
I have an install that has never really updated properly, so I'm trying to start again from scratch. At the same time, since I was stuck at 10.15.6 due to the updating snags, I decided to do the new install straight to Big Sur and...
I'm in the market for a new 2TB M.2 SSD, and I am wondering if I can futureproof by purchasing a NVMe 4 stick to use in my current Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 NVMe 3 mobo until we get compatible hardware for PCIe 4. Obviously, it would not reach the ridiculous speeds of 4.0, but that's not a...
I am having trouble with the Bootcamp driver portion of this. I downloaded v5.0.5033 from the link in this thread, but when I run BootCamp.msi (holding down ctrl-shift to run it as admin) I get a Windows application error followed by an elevated privileges warning stating I need to run it...
Can you elaborate on that? How did you get the fan quieted down? My rig is dead silent except for that one piece, so it sounds like a jet engine compared to the rest. I ordered an Alphacool closed loop water cooler for it, but they are out of stock.
A couple of snags have shown up now that I've been using this puppy for a couple of days. Haven't tried to troubleshoot these yet, but just wanted to note that it's not all roses quite yet. (And I still haven't done the SSDT).
1. When the system wakes from sleep, the screen colors go all pink...
I'll check tonight and let you know what all those individual settings are. I haven't paid any attention since that one and done setting seems to be stable for me so far.
Thanks for that reminder. Looks like it will help.
Thanks for this guide @HackaShaq. This is my first hack in several years and it was relatively painless. The last remaining pain points are USB (using kext patch now, so it's working, including Type C, but need to do SSDT) and TB (not working). I'm trying to wade through @RehabMan's SSDT guide...
