I could not get my system to play nice with the intell GPU. However, I had a spare GTX 670 and just put that in my system. Now have a fully working second monitor and Windows is also working as it did before as well.
Not the solution I wanted, but it works nonetheless.

After a long time, a version of OS X has come out that supports the R9 290x, however, I would like to have my second monitor work without my system going to a black screen.
Anyone have any ideas?
Alright, i will give it a shot... after I am done moving about a 1TB of data. My freaking RAID decided it was a great time to crap out. Nothing like a good backup system though :)
Now, even with the boot flags you gave me, I kernel panic :(
My best guess would be that the kernel extension for the video card doesn't like the R9 290x
Though, I am thinking of doing a fresh install of OSX and see how that does it. Rule out any other software or kernel extensions that could...
