TRIM or no TRIM on Vertex 3

I'm not an expert so take this with a grain of salt - I believe that by enabling TRIM you can avoid the process of moving invalid data around during GC. In other words when your SSD is going about it's GC process it is spreading all the data around the drive to reduce repeated wear on any one...

EVGA GTX 470 Overheating in Mountain Lion Hackintosh

Does you gpu fan spin up to indicate higher temps? Maybe you should make a custom entry in AppleGraphicsPowerManagement.kext to keep the power down when your computer is idling.

Why does Mountain Lion require "No-Execute Memory Protect" enabled on my Gigabyte motherboard?

I think the most obvious answer might be that apple is increasing the security of OSX. That's my guess. And you should have no issues in windows.

can't defeat the black screen boss to start installation.

Best thread topic ever. I really don't have a solution for you I just had to thank you for the laugh. I did notice when reading the multibeast changelog that there was separate fixes for nvidia cards with > 2GB vram. That might be your issue. If you have a spare GPU lying around I would install...

    Too much power consumption

It's probably your graphics card running at a higher power state in OSX. Tweak AGPM kext to lower your GPU clock speed during slow/idle use.

"About my Mac" says Graphics Unknown 1536 MB ????????

DSDT insertion might be the best way to fix the unrecognized card. If chimera doesn't recognize it you could add your card's data to chimera's source and recompile it but I think DSDT is the best way to go. There is good info on how to do it if you do a search.

    Advice Needed - GarageBand Performance Expectations/Problems - Realtek ALC898

If that ^^ doesn't work I would suggest reading toleda's posts in the audio subforum and tweak an audio driver specifically for your ALC898. Also double check your graphics and power management kexts to make sure all your components are properly functioning. I can tell you that my yeti works...

mac os x mountain lion + nvidia GTX 570 hdmi

You might need to pull the NVCAP data yourself if it's not the same as what you found elsewhere. There may be a way to do it in OSX, but I'm only aware of how to get your card's ROM in windows. If you can boot into windows or put your card into a windows machine, download GPU-z and save a copy...

mac os x mountain lion + nvidia GTX 570 hdmi

More information would be helpful. Do you have an EVGA 570 HD or another brand 570? Where did you get your NVCAP? Did you run NVCAP maker on your card's ROM or just look up someone else's NVCAP data? Did this only happen after installing ML? I assume you had no trouble in Lion? Is Graphics...

[SOLVED] Low Cinebench numbers for i7-2600k and GTX 580...

Re: Low Cinebench numbers for i7-2600k and GTX 580 in 10.7.4? I bet your CPU is actually bottlenecking your GPU. It's only running at the lowest speed. I imagine you are using graphics enabler and if you select the openCL fix in multibeast your graphics card should be good to go. Read up on...

[SOLVED] Low Cinebench numbers for i7-2600k and GTX 580...

Re: Low Cinebench numbers for i7-2600k and GTX 580 in 10.7.4? Run geekbench and post your score. I suspect that you have a problem with your cpu power management. It looks to me with your cpu score in cinebench that you are stuck at a 16x multiplier. As far as a gpu benchmark, you could run...

Re: Low Cinebench numbers for i7-2600k and GTX 580 in 10.7.4? So.......you're welcome? Are you stuck? Did none of that make sense? The SSDT can be a pain on ASUS boards are you running at full speed yet?

Re: Low Cinebench numbers for i7-2600k and GTX 580 in 10.7.4? Couple things to consider - I'm guessing that you don't have a SSDT setup. With an ASUS board you might have to insert the code into your DSDT if the generic SSDT fixes don't work. Second, I thought there was a sticky on here about...

Boot screen resolution. Need programmer's help please

I assume you are referring to hex editing the Vesa BIOS modes of your amd card? I tried that but it either didn't work for nvodia cards or the hdmi connection I use nullified any changes. I think it only works for dvi or vga connections. Anyway to get a 1:1 pixel ratio on boot i just checked the...
