Yeah, the dGPU is the main reason I want to get this. I currently have the XPS 9570. It's been working well but it's plagued with Dell's lackluster VRMs and thus power throttles more often than I'd like. Have you had any of those issues with your laptop?
Thanks for the guide! I'm considering purchasing this laptop and have a few questions. Do you mean that everything other than the trackpad buttons, DRM, and the occasional NVME panic is working 100%? Also have you found out what's causing the NVME kernel panic?
Hey, I'm thinking about getting either the 840 or 850 G5. What all is and isn't working on your build? I currently have the 850 G2, but I'm unsure of the extent to which this guide is compatible with the newer versions since everything is "experimental."
Did you see any errors when you ran
iasl -da -dl DSDT.aml SSDT*.aml
I had issues with that and had to remove the "-da" to get it working. Also it would be a good idea to have the latest version of clover installed. Delete the origin folder on your EFI partition where the DSDTs get dumped...
My audio through headphones was messed up but only the first time before restarting. Every time after that has been fine. Are you sure you're using the latest AppleALC kext? That link is here in case you're using the one from this thread.

That's definitely a good sign. I know before, I might get a hang based on whether or not the power was plugged in or not. I'd also test that just to make sure everything is solid.
I won't be able to test for a while. I returned my laptop and plan on getting the 2060 version in a few weeks. If it ends up not being as compatible as I'm betting, I'll return again and go back to the 1060.
