They were XFX R9 280X "Black OC Edition" Double Dissipation model. And yes, lots and lots of fighting to get them to work. I ended up finding someone who was well versed in flashing the BIOS on these cards, and even he had to get assistance from someone to make them work. FCPX is finally...
I specifically avoided the Thunderbolt Display (TBD) and use a pair of Apple Cinema Display (ACD) which use the same display panel, in order to avoid issues. From what recall, I think that someone has a TBD working on the Thunderbolt ports of the motherboard, but the display is handled by the...

I have someone that I have shipped my pair of XFX 280x, and XFX 290x, cards to in order to solve this dilemma. So far, he has reported that the reason that these do not work Out Of the Box is because these XFX 280x cards do not use the same core as other 280x cards that work OOB...
I have installed the Bootloader and Extra Folder onto the EFI partition but my XFX can only boot up in safe mode.
I've been searching to no end for someone with at least the same card. Other with the R9 280x, but different brand, are having perfect OOB compatibility. If I boot with the...

UPDATE:
After using the 60" as a monitor, with horrendous overscan, I was able to install Windoze 7 and all of the drivers for the motherboard and also install the Thunderbolt update. I also updated the BIOS from F2 that it came with to F3. Set the Thunderbolt to Legacy and.....

I had tried connecting the ACD to the Thunderbolt ports, with no luck. The only HDMI monitor that I have in my 60" Sharp TV in the living room....AND IT WORKS connected to the R9 card.
At least we're getting somewhere now! Thanks for the mental assist!

I just spent a good portion of my life setting up a system with this board today and an R9 XFX graphics card. I'm using a 27" Apple Cinema Display...but nothing gets displayed at all. I'm a tad exhausted at the moment, so perhaps I'm not thinking clearly. LOL According to the POST LED...
Interesting….I was on Lion and the CPU was at the native 3.49GHz, recently installed Mountain Lion, and now (even in the BIOS) the system is running at 3.59GHz somehow.
