The first thing you needed to do is describe what you are doing with this hackintosh.
Most people would be happier with:
16GB of 3200 memory ($125 -- G.SKILL F4-3200C14D-16GVK)
500GB nvme ssd ($87 -- HP EX950 512GB) [the 860 evo is slow SATA]
Noctua NH-U12S ($62)
Thank you very much. I will completely reformat with MBR before formatting again with APFS. Does the adapter you used fit inside the case properly? If so, can you tell me which one you used? Many thanks!
I own a (very expensive) 2TB Samsung 960 Pro M.2 drive. My 2015 15" MacBook Pro has a new 1TB Apple SSD. I'm thinking about putting the 1TB Apple SSD into my 2009/2010 MacPro tower (OWC PCI card) and putting the 2TB 960 Pro into the MacBook Pro using one of those adapters I see on Amazon...
The new Mac Pro isn't competing against anything. The only people who will buy one will be people who want one and they don't really care that they spend $1000 just for the monitor stand. I will own one someday. Likely when they are old and used like my current mac pro. Then again, I thought...
My current Macs have 10 times more power than what I will need for the future. I have a 12 core MacPro 2010 that needs to go to one of the family. I haven't started it in 6 months. I will buy one of these used, when it is 5 years old.
Think outside the box. The typical GPU fan is thin and noisy. In an ITX box, I like to take a 560 and remove the fans. Then I position a quiet case fan blowing on it at full speed (92mm. 120mm, or 140mm) usually a Noctua fan. In an ATX motherboard, I would sacrifice a PCIe card, scrape off...
The 2TB 960 Pro is the best SSD I have ever experienced but it is still over $1000. A 1TB 960 Pro would be good. The older 2-bit MLC may have slower peak speeds but their sustained write performance for large files is much faster than TLC (3-bit) SSDs
Sonora or Pocono (they gave up on the mountains too early). If they make the next OS really compact, they could name it Chihuahua Then they could switch over to dogs. Just think... MacOS beagle, MacOS PitBull. The first 8K OS could be NewFoundland.
I think the supply in general is starting to dry up. Specifically, My defective ones were:
