I looked at using Carbon Copy Cloner to backup my Big Sur and found that there is an issue with Apple requiring something called ASR. "All on its own, Big Sur introduced a significant new change to the creation of an external boot device. The operating system now resides on a cryptographically...
Hi Leesureone I see that you have made a lot of progress with the NUC8 series. I decided to see if I could do the Open Core system and get it up and running with your latest 7.6 EFI. I was successful and pleased that it worked well (I worked out the details and did not sabotage myself by...
I had my NUC stop working, but reinstalled Cat and maybe EFI. The Hacs don't seem to like having more than one drive running Clover on the NUCs (I had three installed). The Clover installs seem to write on each other's EFIs (and Win10's efi which I removed). This is probably half of my...
Leesureone: Update on my last post. I formatted a new drive with APFS - GUID. I created a thumb drive to install Big Sur. I put O.C.6.6.2 in the TD EFI folder. Booted NUC8i7BEH with TD chose Install Big Sur when OC came up with the Drive Selection screen. With a couple boots I had my...
1.---- I seem to have a new problem. The NUC went to sleep and locked up. I can't get the Nvme or USB/SSD to boot. I tried a Cat Install usb to boot it but that did not work. I will try to do a repair recovery next then do a back up of the two drives.
2.------ If so which is the best Install...
I have looked over the linked Dortania and it looks like a lot of details which may make it a troublesome way to go. I can do a new build...
1.---- Is it easier to build a new SSD with a clean install of O.C. 6.6 on it and then port docs (Migrate) etc over to the new OC drive?
2.------ If so...
I tried to boot my Clover CAT install with a usb drive with OC6.6 as the EFI and it did not work. I take it that I need to do a complete new thumb drive with CAT and OC6.6 on it then build a drive with that. Changing the EFI folder seems to mess up my boot drive. I had a hard time getting it...
Can you post the Z77x-ud5h EFI folder that CosCos posted? I am looking for it, but no luck so far. I want to upgrade mine to High Sierra. Yosemite is too old...
CosCos I have the UD5H and would like to upgrade from Yosemite to High Sierra (Yosemite is not being supported as much anymore). I would like to know if all of the features of the board are working with the files (EFI etc) below or not. My UD5H has not had wake/sleep issues and I use the...
Have you determined or noticed which version of the BIOS is reliable?
You said that you have not updated the Clover Version for months and that is probably the problem. I used your EFI and it installed and worked good until I tried to do the USB port limit kext. That and the update seem to...
I have not updated the Clover version for months so thats probably the issue. And I'm sorry to say its not something I plan on doing anytime soon either
Have you determined or noticed which version of the BIOS is reliable?
I agree. Long post with not a lot of information how you are attempting this. Make sure you are mounting the hidden EFI partition of your USB drive using the EFI Agent utility or opencore configurator or whatever solution you prefer to do that. Then copy and paste in the appropriate EFI folder...
I have been trying to install OC hac on my thumb drive. I used create media to make the bootable TD and then replaced the EFI folder on the TD with NUC8i5OC5.9EFI (WO Internal Headers). That did not work so I tried the next folder NUC8EFIOC5.8_(With Internal Headers), etc. I tried all of the...
