New AMD Radeon VII on my Hackintosh

Yep, just did. Power management looks fine. Thanks. Someone else suggested the problem is the 16 gig of HBM memory.

New AMD Radeon VII on my Hackintosh

Tried 19,1. No difference. Everything works great in 18,1 except for FCP.

New AMD Radeon VII on my Hackintosh

Does anyone have any thoughts as to why the Radeon VII which seems to be recognized across benchmark apps like Luxmark and Geekbench and by Profiler but will not accelerate FCPX. It seems to provide a bit of support but does not fill GPU History in Activity Monitor the way my RX 580 would show...

    macOS 10.14.5 Update

Updated to 10.14.5 without issues. Main box 7700k, SMBIOS 18,3, RX 580. All worked. Installed my Radeon VII. No faster than the RX 580, in fact, slower in most initial tests. Will have to sort out what is going on there.

Radeon VII (and new AMD gpus) compatibility

So you're recommending running the firmware update on Radeon VII?

    [Success] Mini-ITX build GIGABYTE Z390 I AORUS PRO WiFi + i9 9900K

Sorry for the late reply. You want a Broadcom card ending in CD not CS. With my experience the CS cards don't sleep. My card has a broadcom BCM94360CD and works great.

    [Success] Mini-ITX build GIGABYTE Z390 I AORUS PRO WiFi + i9 9900K

Airdrop uses either Bluetooth or WiFi but you have to have both enabled for it to work. I have the OSXWiFi card. Crazy expensive but it works.

Solved > Help with USB 3.0 in GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK (Mojave)

I've been fairly successful with the Rehabman method linked above but if your mobo wasn't in the ssdt sample, then it was beyond me and editing the ssdt file manually was a pain. Then I discovered this on Git Hub, way easier. Worked on all my machines. The live readout from Terminal made life...

    macOS 10.14.3 Update

Direct update from Apple. No issues. Audio fine. USB (manually assigned using Rehabman method) all working.

    [SOLVED] Need to enable QuickSync/Export on i8700K + RX 580 + FCPX

I was thinking of the Radeon deinit and I should have added Inject Intel just to be clear. Sorry.

    [SOLVED] Need to enable QuickSync/Export on i8700K + RX 580 + FCPX

I've now moved my editing computer to Mojave but the same settings should work with 580 and 13.6. BruceX is not worth testing with. FCPX shows a 1.0 frequency in Intel PowerGadget. Using Quicktime to compress it goes up to 10. I have Lilu and Whatevergreen installed, all the inits turned off...

    macOS 10.14.2 Update

What brand of Vega 64 are you running. The world seems to have run out of Sapphire Nitro+ versions.

    macOS 10.14.1 Update

Updated both boxes to 14.1. No issues. I used the opportunity to implement SSDT USB port fix. It took a long time but I learned a lot. Worked as promised but boy it's a bit of reading and you have to read the whole thing first, don't just jump into it...

[Guide] Creating a Custom SSDT for USBInjectAll.kext

Thank you ReHabMan. These are not instructions, they are a journey. I have successfully enabled the SSDT approach. Every port is working correctly. And best of all I have a little bit better understanding of how this works. Again, thanks. For those with a GA z170X Gaming 3 Mobo I've uploaded my...

Nvidia Drivers for Mojave 10.14 Not Available, WorkAround

I'm actually running that AMD card in R9 280X guise on my i5 and I have the RX 580 on my i7. I think the 280X is a fantastic card if you can get it for $100. At $140, spend another $100 and get the RX $580 with the 8 gig. Worth the update.
