    Is my PC compatible?

Hi, and welcome to the forum! :) The only thing I'm not sure about is the graphics card. I believe that people have successfully used the R9, but I have stuck with Nvidia, as I know that they work out of the box. Aside from that it all looks good. Let us know how you get on, or if you need...

    Purchase MOTHERBOARD

Have you looked at the buyers guide? My last motherboard was a Gigabyte Z97-HD3, running a Core i7 4790K, which was really easy to hackintosh, and my current board is the Gigabyte Z170-gaming 3, running a Core i7 6700, which wasn't as easy to hack, but I managed it, with lots of help from this...

[Guide] El Capitan on the Skylake H170N-WIFI

Quick update: I've sorted out the graphics issue, which I did using the Clover configuration app. the only thing that's not playing nice is the USB port at the back of the machine. I've plugged an old USB keyboard into the front socket for now, until I get a chance to look at this. If anyone has...

[Guide] El Capitan on the Skylake H170N-WIFI

Hi, I've just tried this on my Gigabyte GA-Z170X Gaming 3 setup, with 16GB RAM and an Nvidia GTX 760. The only issues I can see at present are that it's giving me the incorrect graphics card in the "About this Mac" window and only one of the three monitors is working. Also I can only boot into...

    Seprate SSD

I also wouldn't bother installing any "boot select" type software. I ran a hackintosh on my old PC for years and just tapped F12 and selected the appropriate drive when I wanted to load OS X. It made sense because my wife also used the PC and I didn't want to make the logging on process any...

Easy guide to installing on Skylake

Thanks for that Ken. I was hoping for a more step by step guide, but that should do the job nicely. Since i don't have access to an actual Mac, I guess I'll have to dig out the Vmware image again... this should be fun! :D

Easy guide to installing on Skylake

Is there an easy guide to installing on Skylake? Hi, Apologies if this is in the wrong section... I've searched the forum but couldn't find a guide on installing OS X onto my new Skylake machine. I know that it's not yet fully supported, and I have seen a few threads with some information...

    [SOLVED]OS X 10.10.3 Suddenly not starting

OS X 10.10.3 Suddenly not starting Did you get any software update notifications? For what it's worth, the same thing happened to me and I checked the BIOS, (just for giggles) and found that the VT-d option had changed back to enabled, all on it's ow, so it might be worth double checking that...

    I've broken Yosemite

Update: So, I reset the bios to defaults, and started from scratch. I have now reached the stage where it gets as far as FakeSMCKeystore: started Then freezes. Any ideas, while I continue my investigations? Edit to add: I'm still working under the assumption that it's a simple BIOS setting...

"Missing bluetooth controller transport!" Error after Mavericks install

The asterisks mean that there may be a few different files which start with the same letters, so, using names as an example: Jo* would be John, Johnathan, Joanne, Jordan, etc In your case it means all files beginning with AppleIntelHD and AppleIntelF Hope this helps, John.

    I've broken Yosemite

Hi, I installed Yosemite, and it was running perfectly, alongside Windows 8.1 and the Windows 10 technical Preview. None of this dual booting malarky, thought. I just selected the drive by pressing F12, to keep it nice and simple, (a bit like me) I made the mistake of trying to overclock the...

    Yosemite won't boot unless I use -x

Hi, I managed to get Yosemite installed, (I installed Snow Leopard then downloaded Yosemite and installed to a new hard drive) but I've got two problems which are a bit annoying. I can't boot from the hard drive unless I use the -x switch. I don't know if this is related, but startup seems a...
