Just wanted to say thanks to Shijan. I finally got around to the build.
Asus Prime z370-A
Intel i7-8700K/ Integrated grahics.
Corsair Vengence DDR4.
I did not have to go through the long process helpfully outlined above.
In bios just loaded optimized defaults and disabled legacy boot...
Thanks! That sounds like a winner expect for the audio.
Going to get a motherboard shortly but in the meantime....
Just to get some of the rust out and a little practice in, I tried the latest methods to upgrade my last build from El Capitan to High Sierra.
I did not 'upgrade' but did a...
Hi, I have built several Hackintoshes over the years but not recently!
I'm planning on an i7-8700K overclockable with SSD and any midline Nvidia card for graphics on High Sierra.
No need for 4k graphics or networking (already have osx compatible wifi card).
Given that I am doing a new build...
Wait a second, you are booting UEFI but I did not install as UEFI on either OSX or Windows, so will this work?
Or are you saying that even though I installed in legacy mode I can boot the OSX disk UEFI mode and have it all work?
Its kind of confusing because when you look for a solution...
I can install OSX El Capitan fine (basic install - no tweaking yet) but I am having trouble dual booting windows 7 with Clover (2 disks)
Windows 7 was already installed Legacy (No UEFI enabled) on a stand alone Intel SSD (first disk) before attemping OSX.
I did Unibeast with Legacy...
Glad I didn't wait.
Glad I didn't wait for IvyBridge and got the SandyBridge i7-2600K. Turns out Ivy Bridge won't be shipping with more than 4 cores any time soon and is far more difficult to OC (after 4.5GHz) than sandy bridge. And we still don't have native support for ivy bridge in the...
Well this motherboard (GA-Z68X-UD5-B3) omits the Z68 onboard graphics so implementing this suggestion is not possible as there is no onboard VGA
Update- I updated Lion to 10.7.3 and its working (10.7.1) did not. Only thing is that Sleep not working, it sleeps but resets the BIOS when wake is...
I just updated my hackintosh to the new Lion 10.7.3, using the latest Multibeast. Its a GA-Z68X-UD5-B3 with an i7-2600K and its working (except for sleep) but I now see that Chamelon is newer and has a C-states and P states flag, and a bunch of extra text on bootup. I searched but cannot...
Here is an easy question that I cannot believe I couldn't find the answer to by searching...but I didn't see it, so thought I'd ask.
I see that Gigabyte came out with a new firmware revision to my motherboard, there is also a new DSDT for that revision.
I am about to burn in the new FW, but...
No. Except this is the tonymacx86 recommended motherboard so I would hope there is help at this site. I went with the 10.6.3 install disk myself. Note that sandy bridge chips are a problem with osx untill 10.6.8 so you should install 10.6.x then update to 10.6.8 (no earlier revisions).
I believe so.
Here is a dual xeon HP that was hackintoshed.

There are not a lot of them but there are a few out there. The support to make them into a hackintosh is far below the level of support you find here for mainstream systems...I think.
Good question. You would need an older core2duo mac pro or else a Xeon workstation like HP/Dell to make a straight up comparison. I see a few posts occassionally about hackintoshing a xeon workstation but its probably pretty rare compared to the core2 and i7 processors most people use.
I read the FAQs but did not think that "no solicitation" would apply - should have read it more closely. Thanks for the info and I will not be selling anything on this site.
